~ The more animated the scene is, the more player attention it can grab.
So wouldn't you agree that a video, running in the map's background, can be a great tool for that?

~ What I want to use: a plugin that can run a video, as a parallax background, that the player-sprite can walk on.
(Technically speaking, it could include changing the layer the video plays on, so it's under the map layer and player can walk over it. And allowing the video to play in parallel so player can interact with other events while it plays. And making the video loop.)

I want to use motion backgrounds like these:

...as parallax background to my maps.

~ This can open up great visual spectacle, out of what RPG Maker can do.
Picture this, In a cliff scene, we can have a motion background of a sky or the sun beyond the edge of the map:

~ Instead of using animated water tiles, we can use a video of animated water (under the map):

~ We can have trippy scenes running in the background for the dream sequences in our games:

~ This feature, this plugin, can open up opportunities to create stunning, attention grabbing scenes.

Does This Plugin Already Exist?
-> I have around 6000+ MV plugins. And none of them provide this feature.
Which does make me think that this feature might not be possible at all... haha...
:kaocry:

Potential compatibility issues with my project:

->If this plugin is made, I'll be using it immediately in my following game:
This is my 5th published project in 3 years with RPG Maker, and I'm using around 160+ plugins in it.
I'm not using any other video-related plugin in here. And barely using any parallax plugins. (Only foreground.js and tintparallax.js)
So I don't picture there being that much compatibility issues. (I hope...)

Inspiration:
->My inspiration for this is simply... the assets are there. Thousands of motion backgrounds. All we need is a tool to use them in our game.
In my games, there are scenes where the map or environment doesn't matter. Because the character interaction is the focus (which might be going on in a virtual, or mental space). So for these sort of scenes, I want to use these videos as a map. To keep the scene around animated.

Does this make sense?

Ohhh, thank you for sharing! :LZSooo:

Does this satisfy your request?

It does not @TheoAllen (Just tested it.)
DK's plugin plays the video above the map and sprite. While my request is to have it play under/below the map/tiles, so the player sprite can walk over it.

@OktoberLove Almost... that plugin (YSP_VideoPlayer.js) allows pictures and dialogue box to show over a looping video. But doesn't allow tiles and sprites to show over. (Which is ideally what I wanted.)

Still, I decided to install the plugin in my project and make use of it.
But before that... I thought I should to compare YSP_VideoPlayer.js with other plugins, which have the same video features.
And use the one that works best.

And so I went back to DK_Video_Player.js (brought up by @TheoAllen in an above post) and saw... that the developer updated it with the exact feature I wanted! :LZSooo:

Here's a showcase:

This is awesome! I've been looking for this feature for so long and it's finally here... :kaocry:
I feel overjoyed! Thank you so much @OktoberLove for bringing up the video, which made me check back on @TheoAllen's suggestion (thank you Theo!).

So a big bug that was on a glue trap at home is now magically not on the glue trap. This feeling of terror I'm experiencing could be a fun thing to put in my game project (not the IGMC one).
Hoping that Unite has a character generator with black hairs/lips and other features.. it is such a pain making characters without these...
