ok this is gonna sound horrible. im new to rpg vx ace but can i just copy and paste everything from jet's script or just certain parts of it?

I like this script it's very clean reminds me of FF Mystic quest and a few other rpgs.  It's a bummer it's NC only though

I know this post is old and I probably wont get an answer to this. But I fixed the dead sprites appearing adding what Astos said here.

But there's another problem, I think it's really simple to solve but I don't know how. The same happens when you try to use an item on a dead character, when you select it, the sprite reappears, doesn't matter if you use the item or not, just selecting the dead character makes the sprite reappear.

Edit: I found an error :I Sometimes when i'm in battle, i get an error saying something about 'guard' and right before this error, the enemy would attack, and end up committing suicide '-'

This code is nice and useful but I have one problem that is probably fairly simple to fix.

I have a character select screen so I can't put in information for "<sprite: ImageName, 0>" until after that. I tried playing around with some variables for "ImageName" and index that would hopefully pull in the sprite sheet and index for whatever one was selected by the player but I haven't had any luck. I don't know RPGMaker very well. Are there any existing variables for the actor I could just plug in there? Thanks.

EDIT:

I've come to realize that the player characters side view battler sprite doesn't seem to be determined by the "<sprite: ImageName, 0>" like the enemies. It's just seems to be based on the graphic image chosen in Database > Actors. So when you change your player sprite at a later time it doesn't change side-battler image for battles. If someone knows what i'm missing any help is appreciated. 

Edit:

Fixed. The problem was with my character selection code.

any time actor is killed by an enemy counterattack I get


this error.



Script 'Jets animated battle' line 437: NoMethodError occurred.


undefined method `guard?' for nil:NilClass


any way to fix this?

@Ogre does this error happens if you start a new game? in 80% of all cases it's because someone tried to load an older (and now incompatible) savefile.


If that is not the case, then it's either a misconfiguration inside your project, or an incompatibility between two scripts in your project. In both cases it's better you make a new topic where you place screenshots of the configurations and links to the scripts you're using.

How do you put sprites on the enemies side? There's no tutorials anywhere for that. Exce[t for that not as good looking animated battlers script and the method for it doesn't work here.

Hi, i have been using your battle system and was just wondering if there was a way to remove the fadeout of the actors when they die in battle?

When you say fadeout do you mean disappear?
Set the condition on your actors in the actor tab to "not disappear" It's a command option not a check box.

That doesnt do what im looking for, basically when the actors die, their characters in the battle screen disappear, i dont want this to happen.

OK, I looked at the script; you need to set your state sprites.
STATE_SPRITES = {
1 => ["", 0],
2 => ["", 0]
}

So for dead you would specify what sprite to display for a dead actor.
1 => ["Dead", 0], # for example. I don't know exactly how this script is supposed to work. I use to use yanfly visual battlers, but never wanted the actors to stay on screen. I currently use Victor sant actor battlers and have my game configured for it. Never tried Jet's visual battlers script.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
