Just bought RPG Maker MV and it got quarantined by McAfee so I analyzed the actual exe file and the set up file with https://www.virustotal.com.
The actual exe program file has "Cylance" while the installation file has "Rising Malware.Heuristic!ET#89% (rdm+)"

I re-downloaded and re-scanned and got the same thing. What do I do? I just spent $79.99 and I can't even use the program.

McAfee, Norton and so many others are notorious for false positives.

If you downloaded from here, or from Steam, there is no virus in the engine.

Go into McAfee and white-list it.

I've been trying but there's no way without jumping through a bunch of hoops to do it. Plus the thing I scanned it on wasn't actually mcafee and the "Malware.Heuristic!ET#89% (rdm+)" thing has me worried.

Google drive will do the same thing for VX Ace games (at least from my experience), and online tools scanning the files will do the same. The problem is that these online scanners will use a multitude of different resources to scan the files and if EVEN ONE gives a false positive, it lets you know.

False positives happen all the time. This is especially true of .exe files because of the way they work. As Shaz said above, If you are downloading the copy from here or Steam your odds of actually getting a computer virus that way are 0/10. You have nothing to worry about with just a clean install of MV off an official location. The McAfee hoops on the other hand I have no advice for. I've avoided McAfee like the plague ever since I could understand what it was.

Well that does make me feel better about the "malware" thing. (I wouldn't be using McAfee but my mom bought a whole package thing for everyone in the family's computers.) I just gotta wait for hours on McAfee support to help with the whitelisting part. Thanks. Hope you have a good day/night.

mcafee is especially bad for this, and will also cuase problems when trying to load the maker engine (not all the time but a high percent of the time).... so you also have to white list the program after installing it to be safe

Just to explain what is going on in detail...

All MV games are HTML5-games, but need to be accessed locally.
Most AV-programs use heuristic searches to look for command sequences that might be a virus - otherwise they would be unable to detect unknown virus programs. And that would make then useless as most dangerous viruses are constantly reprogrammed to evade detection.

Unfortunately there is little technical differences in the commands for an infected website wrongly trying to save its virus locally, and a local HTML-based program to write its own data.
That is why a lot of antivirus programs get a false positive, especially ifma New Version of the editor was released shortly before.
You can seither whitelist MV in the AntiVirus (and yes, there is a function for that in it, but it is usually protected to prevent accidental listings of real viruses), or wait a few weeks until the reporter false positive is exempted by the AV company itself

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
