They said that in december 2016 too...the first time they delayed it. What a coincidence.

The wait is getting annoying. Maybe it's time to stop looking for excuses to not learn python.

@mardin Maybe it's time to learn that if you have nothing good to say, don't say it. No one wants to hear it. :kaomad2:

@MRD256 the "coming soon 2017" was set when the original date of "autumn 2016" couldn't be realised, and because they already had to postpone once Degica will not give another date until the program is really finished, whatever they're currently doing with it.

At first I waited impatiently, but now I have calmed down.

Scientists will invent a artificial super-mind and humanity will enter a new era before Degica completes Visual Novel Maker.

Artificial supermind promise to make by 2040.
This is just a forecast, but we just had to wait for another 13 years.

Yes, it's a little longer than we are waiting for this game.
    Just a little bit longer.

And I have a suggestion that scientists still can get ahead of Degica's developers.
Developers simply need to fix bugs for another 13 years.

@Palxan - I VERY HIGHLY doubt that it will be 2040 before Visual Novel Maker is out...

I'll even bet if they don't release it within the next year, or at least announce progress, they'll have abandoned the project.

What features will this have that will justify the price over, say, Ren'Py?

Oh, yeah. Ren'Py is just a scripting language, right?

Ren'Py is a mod for PyGame, a game engine made in Python. So Python is the scripting language here.

Imagine Ren'Py being a RPG Maker project, but instead having an editor and default assets, you have a BBCode editor. This is Ren'Py.

    :v

As said a few comments before, the editor will be "extensible". Can we assume that it will follow the "MV engine stack", being it HTML5, and Javascript within NW.js, or is it being developed on another language? I tried to scan the KorteX RPG Studio on the interwebz for this information, but since Degica acquired its rights, the sources were (understandably) down.

The VN makers that I know of that have editors are very inflexible. The flexible engines don't have an editor. I know of one engine that comes with art but the artwork is user made and inconsistent in quality and style and the engine itself is pretty limited. The engine that's coming promises to have an editor, be somewhat flexible out of the box and a lot flexible if you code, and comes with a bunch of high quality matching artwork. Nothing is really unique by itself, but I think the combination is worth it. I mean, I love Ren'py, but it is not easy to make the menus look custom if code isn't your thing. Even just tweaking the colors for it can be a chore.

If it turns out to be another straightforward engine that you can only make one look for without knowing code then it won't be worth the cost, but so far it seems to have some unexpectedly high end features like Live2D support and most of all it has Archeia's approval. That's a big deal for me. I haven't seen it yet but I'm positive that it's going to be really great.

I dont know the whole code base for the editor but its will be able to be extended to the need and will come with an intensive manual.

Its also madein coffeescript for the game coding so we will not get any hidden class for the game.

We pretty much get also an ide for the engine....of what i know i hope its will have somewhat an autocomplete.

This has been my experience with visual VN/KN editors as well. Hell, most of them don't do chaptering. Between that and my good experiences working with Ren'Py, I figured it was a fair question.
