Heya,

I’ve tried searching high and low for ideas and it seems like there’s a lack of information about VX Ace mini games out there. What I’ve learned though is that there aren’t a lot of mini game scripts out there due to the fact that a lot of mini games can be created through eventing. I was just hoping the community could help me out and give me some ideas. So if I may:

What are some of your favorite simple or complex mini games that can be created through events?

Aaah, making minigames ~~
Back in my VX / VXA days, it feels like I've made lots of them.

This is from one of my games. It's done via eventing with some script calls.

The first (strength training) is a simple mashing button. But I doubled the pointer to be controlled with 2 buttons, adding a balance element.

The second (agility training) is just pressing the right directional button pointed at the center. But the key sequences come from both ways.

The last (wisdom training) is a minigame of picking majority color. You just have to pick between the two colors you think is in majority.

All three of em are designed to look symmetrical for originality, yet still maintain simplicity.

If you do a search in the tutorials for VX Ace and in Non-maker spcific tutorials, you will find several which give detailed explanations of how to do them, often with a downloadable demo.

I created a maid café. You go to customers (up to 10 per "wave"), who have their own orders, then you go to the desk and tell them what the customers want, get the respective key item, and go back to the customer and provide accordingly. This can be done with a properly prepared map, Commen Events, and some script calls. Now my version does use several actual scripts to increase the functionality, but those aren't strictly necessary.

Wow! These are actually pretty neat and seem fairly easy to event out. I might actually consider doing something similar with one or two of these! I really like the “guess which color is the majority” one!

I’ll definitely dig a little more into it! I know VX resources are a little outdated and can be hard to find the good ones. That’s why I just wanted to hear from everyone else which ones they’ve played around with! Spark a little inspiration, ya know? haha.

Here is a Evented Jigsaw Puzzle (With some Eventcode Scriptline snippets to safe some eventcode work, but it should also be possible to 100% Eventcode it)
1 smal Puzzle with Mister President
1 bigger Puzzle with Nature and Succubus Motive
The Code is not perfect, but maybe it helps getting started.
It works seemingly without Bugs.

Mmm, this one is the first time when I was tinkering with MV.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
