I went to this tutorial on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-FVMB2HeY4 and did this short tutorial on making a torch light a room.  The same events work perfect in my copy of VX but it locks up my character on MV.  It's a simple set of events, bit after two days, I can't figure out why this is locking MV up.

That is because that video is even wrong for Ace.

It contains several mistakes that create timing errors by using parallel processes in a ridiculous way, and forcing eternal loops on tints to counter themselves.

It's a wonder that that works on Ace (and can only do because of ID priorities), so it's absolutely no wonder that it doesn't work on MV.

I suggest that you forget everything said in that video and look for better tutorials to handle tint screen.

(sorry, I don't have time for examples, but the first event needs to be switched off directly after the tint screen and the flame event should never be a parallel process in the first time.

He only needs it as a parallel process because the first one isn't switched off, and it results in two different tint screen commands sixty times per second...

It might help if you can post a screenshot of the event. :) But from what it sounds like, if your character can't move on the screen, the event may be set to "autorun".

Edit: Oops, I got here too late! I should have watched the video.

Yeah, my PC which is a high end system hangs and it runs real slow.  I deleted a line that called the Torch switch as it looked like a loop to me and it works great now.  I guess some YouTube videos suck.

I thought it was a good video tutorial, but not now.  I watch a lot of YouTube tutorials too.

EDIT:  Dang it, I double posted.  There is no delete button either.  Man I'm sorry...

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
