Hello community.
I was searching for a script that can do a certain thing.
I might be a dummy on searching or probably there is no such a thing.
Info:
A] Imagine you got the default resolution of VX Ace, all right? Not enhanced dlls and stuff.
B] You got all of your maps made at the exact size of the screen. (That's why Lemony's script on Restaff doesn not help here
)
C] No scrolling maps (looping) involved .
D] No parallax mapping involved (scripted).
E] No map screenshot transition involved (does not fit the needs)
What I want to happen:
Now let's say that I want to make a player transfer, but not using the default fade out, but by sliding the current and the destination map, in a proper way. For example, going to the left side, the map that must appear should be sliding from the left ti right, substituting the current map, thus the current map moves along, putting keeping the hero to the right position at the same time, (the hero slides with the new map I suppose(?), and maybe during that movement, we move the hero a tile to the left or something to keep the sprite into the new map.
What I found until now:
I know that there is a camera effect by Source but in this case there must be a big map involved I suppose. I want the maps to be small, screen size, and I got my reasons for that.
Lemony's script on Restaff does the trick using bigger maps though. That is not very convenient though, for what I wanna make.
Questions:
If we have to satisfy all restrictions [ A, B, C, D and E]
1] Is there a way to make this happen using Source's free camera script?
2] Is there a way (probably a script) that can be used to do that? I would like to see a script under terms like "free to use commercialy or not but demanding giving credit"
3] Is there a way to do this using only the eventing system? In other words, do I miss something on transfer player?
Why care giving an answer:
What I am trying to make here is a very complex event driven system, that can use this.
This system will be relatively easy to customize, it will be probably released after IGMC 2015 and after perfecting it.
All my work, will be documented on a working demo, free to use for everyone, as long as credit is given to whoever was involved.
That is why I ask for the possible script to have SUCH free terms. It's not about arrogance of any kind, it's thw quite opposite; I have everyone in my mind, not only myself.
