I just wanted to chime in and say that the converter has worked beautifully for me. It didn't seem to like it when placing assets with different filenames than were previously associated- (ie the monster "Crud" was upscaled and the file was crudmv.png instead of crud.png) no matter what it didn't want to play nice with a new filename, but that's literally a 10 second fix.

So, Shaz, thank you again. :)

shaz has a link to it in the page before this in this forum. copy the script into your vxa scripts editor, below everything, play test the game, exit, and there should be an mv data folder created move that over to your new projects data folder in mv, resources wont be ported over so you have to do those things manually

your scripts wouldnt have transfered over, just your actors, maps, events, animations, skills what, not your resources. you would have to manually load those into the project folder yourself. what error message are you getting?

Cause it seems that MVwon't load a picture I transfered over or some of the music.

So what format does RPG Maker MV reconised because I'm not seeing any of the MP3s that I loaded in, and how would I convert them to be the proper format?

mp3 formats still work in mv, they would have to be loaded into the audio/bgm if its background music, audio/bgs if its a sound....you get the idea. just copy them from your vx ace audio folder into your mv folder. for the pictures the same thing make sure they are in img/picture or img/parallax depending on what it was

I did do that but when i go into MV  and try to select the music it is missing. I just copied from one file and moved to the other file, did I do that right?

I just looked and bounced off the the files in MV and the folder and it looks like all MV is seeing is the .ogg files

huh..i stand corrected its m4a not mp3, no matter you can get free mp3 to ogg converters free online, just search one for in google and pick one that lets you do files in batch if you have alot. but yea, you just copy it over to the folder and it should work

Thanks, I found an ogg converter and I converted the audio files to ogg and MV is seeing them now.

I feel like this may be the wrong place to post, but I'm not sure where to ask this just yet...

I used the script to convert my VXAce game's data to MV data, and everything seems to have worked fine. However, I've noticed that some events display odd sprite behavior in MV after the conversion, and I'm not sure what might have changed between VXAce and MV to cause this problem.

The problem itself: Events that have no set graphic on the event page that are given a sprite through event code will use the wrong idle frame. The player and some events seem unaffected, but events with normal walk animations will use the first or third frames of the animation as their idle frame (when it is supposed to be the middle frame).

It's probably not a fault of the converter, but I figured I'd mention it here until I know the real cause.

If anyone knows how I can get the proper sprite behavior back for these events, I'd appreciate the help.

Hmmm ... guess I should have put the link to the converter on the first page ...

I'd like to get to the bottom of this. It really should just work, so I'll still contact those people who were having problems and see if I can figure out what was going on. Thanks for the tip though - it'll help get some people up and running :)

Yes - it converts your events exactly as they are, including all the references to resources. So it's expecting the same resources, with the same names - but ignoring the file extension.

Ok I converted my game to MV but it won't load a battle test, I had a buch of scripts so do I have to go in data and delet the scripts then to get it to work?
Ace scripts will not work in MV. You will need to get plugins written if you still need their functionality. Not sure why it won't load a battle test - does it give you an error message? In addition to copying the data files across, you also need to copy over all of your resources manually - the script does no resource conversion at all. And if you have any scripts in damage formula, Conditional Branch, Control Variables or a Script event command, you will need to look at all of those and possibly change some of them.

Cause it seems that MVwon't load a picture I transfered over or some of the music.

So what format does RPG Maker MV reconised because I'm not seeing any of the MP3s that I loaded in, and how would I convert them to be the proper format?
Yep, mp3 is not a valid format for MV. Not sure about the picture though - are you sure you transferred it over, and into the correct file? Didn't change the name?

So how hard would it be to convert normal VX to MV?
Would the method be the same?

@Pots Talos, you cannot use this converter AT ALL for VX. I will write one for VX when I have the time, but I'd like to iron out the bugs with this one first, so they don't get duplicated into the VX version.

@Nejispira, looks like you have a map somewhere that has something wrong with its Autoplay BGS flag. Can you go through your maps (if there aren't too many), and if they don't have the autoplay BGS box checked, go ahead and check it, and then uncheck it again. Let me know if you still have the error after this.

Hi Shaz!

i did a check and found that i actually got 10 maps with Autoplay BGS flag.

So i un-check them and tried, but got same error!

i also remove all scripts i added, and failed!

then i compress the game with its rtp data, thinking might because it got empty folders, but also failed!

a little note , the game was converted from rpg maker vx to ace, then i re-created the battle system,  corrected all the errors till it fully works!

i added 5 different map of era's [time travel],  now the game got 60 maps!

---

i think, i might need to re-create the game from scratch!

Thanks for the fast reply! cheers!

@Pots Talos

convert the game to ace version and then tried mv script!
