I don't know about the Steam Cloud, but I would check the integrity of the files.I am also having this issue. Was it ever resolved?
If so, link, please. I am tearing my hair out trying to figure out why the program crashes before it even opens.
What could have happened? Virus? Out of date driver? New, unstable version?
PS: I am using Steam. Could the Steam Cloud be part of the problem?
The game file is only 138 kb in size, so I'm not sure that size is a factor here, but it did start slowing down a lot several days ago whenever I saved. That might have been an early warning sign. I'm at a loss for answers.
All my 'game.exe' files are 137KB, so that seems normal. To check integrity, right click RPG Maker VX Ace in the Steam window, properties, local files tab, verify integrity of application cache. It will then check everything (your files should be safe, but it doesn't hurt to back them up) to make sure there are no differences between the version on the server and the version on your computer.
If you think that would help the simple thing to do would be to rename you project folder of the last project you ran, mine is located in documents/RPGVXAce.Keep those tips coming. I appreciate the help, but it appears the program is still crashing before it even opens. If only there were a way to open the program without opening the project, then I think I can at least get the program to run.
No, not if the problem is the Steam syncronisation - because if that is the problem, the game doesn't crash, it just tries to wait for the download. If only there were a way to open the program without opening the project, then I think I can at least get the program to run.
Thank you! I swear I giggled like a little girl when my project opened up again after 3 days of me not being able to access it.There is a very simple way to test this - go to steam properties, beta, and change to the non-workshop-version.
That one has no steam synchronisation, and if the program opens normally after disabling that, you'll know that the problem has nothing to do with the RPG-Maker itself but with your internet connection and steams automatic downloads.
