from this post and several others.

I just tried using this, and it seems to smooth the image - no longer pixels.  That may not be a problem in itself - as long as ALL the images are processed through it and it does the same thing to all of them.

My issue is it put a white background behind everything, and when I removed it I got the little white pixels around the edges.

Does anyone know the argument to add to keep a transparent background?

Upload it as a png with transparent background and it will come back that way, it always worked for me.

Concerning the smoothness, just have no noise reduction.

If still too smooth, open it and add noise to it. Just a one step process.

Hope I shed any light.

I'm not uploading anything - I'm running it on my pc.  Original is transparent, result is not.

Well whatever you are running is screwing it up. I've only ever used it here http://waifu2x.udp.jp/

Works fine. Might as well use that until the other gets fixed.

The problem with the one you link to is that it does 1.6, and what is needed is 1.5

That's right - it's only the command-line version that lets you adjust the size.  Can't use the one you linked to.

There is also a software called ImageResizer. Maybe that works better for you. I think it has quite a lot of different algorithms to increase the image size. Maybe you can find something even better than waifu2x? :)

I gave it a go - scale didn't result in the size I asked for, but stretch worked a bit better.  It also seemed to smooth the pixels a bit, and there weren't any options to disable that.  It might be something that'll work for placeholder art though, while I'm saving to get my tilesets all redone :(

Thats because resizing an image other than 2.0x || 3.0x etc... causes breakage.

No algorithm can ever guess where you want half pixels and such, until programs become creative.

Using the link I posted it is not about just resizing to 1.5x right away that will never work as intended.

First resize to 2.0x save and open up your image and resize down to 1.5x.

It has almost the best results I have seen when trying to resize to 1.5x.

OR programs can just do exactly that for me? ;)

lol this is true.

But it is a quick and easy process to do both steps so not much harm done.

Not when you had hundreds of images to process.

I would prefer to run a batch file in the background and go off to do something else.

Well of course doing it that way is easier but if it isn't available than you have to bite the bullet and do it manually.

If you have to resort to resizing images manually it takes not more than 30 min to do over 200 images as I have just done a couple days ago. It's so easy.

Even if someday we can let some kind of AI to draw stuff to us, they can't really guess based on example how artist did the work originally. Missing details caused due resizing from source stuff.

Anyway, I got curious to try this out.

I'm pretty sure that a computer can replicate a Mondrian painting easily.

If you don't know the artist, just imagine combining lego blocks.

I was referring when original source image is lost and artist is like "oh crap, I only have this half sized one saved." ;)

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
