So am I the only one so excited for that upcoming event?

Will you participate or not. Why yes/ not?

What are you guys up to?

How do you imagine your participation?

Which engine will you use?

What DLCs will you use?

You got a storyline ready, or are you the kind of people that will make up something during that time?

Any idea when it will start and where (url) it will take place?

Can't wait.

Let me start with it:

I will participate of course because I love such contests.

I am up to something kinda complex, still in my mind though, so it will be fair to participate during the time and not before that.

I imagine myself drinking coffee and making the game all day long and all night long, for 1 month.

The engine I am gonna use will be VX Ace again, but this time I am gonna make an actual game.

I am planning to use DS and DS+ for sure.

Story, well that's another thing. I don't know how I will put the system I imagine into a story. This will torture me for a month I suppose.

I bet the contest will start through July. (I have no idea)

I'll probably participate, but I'm waiting for the rules before deciding anything.

I want to participate, depending on how much free time i have when it starts.

The game will probably end up as a non-RPG. I'm currently experimenting with gameplay mechanics, but have nothing ready yet.

Probably some puzzle adventure (well, maybe with some RPG elements).

For anyone unaware, they may see the Q and A thread for this year's contest over at Game Dev Fort. Nick Palmer (Touchfuzzy) posts at the current end of the thread explaining when we might be likely to see 2015's contest start, and that while 2014 started around mid-June, unforeseen events have caused delays which have pushed the contest back slightly.

What are you guys up to?

I have a rough idea of what I want to do, but I'm not making any concrete plans until the 'twist' has been announced.

How do you imagine your participation?

Mechanically speaking, what I'm wanting to do isn't all that complicated so a lot of the work will be on the story and presentational aspects.

Which engine will you use?

VX Ace

What DLCs will you use?

None, I'm doing fully custom art assets.

You got a storyline ready, or are you the kind of people that will make up something during that time?

I know the major plot points and thematic elements I want to explore but nowhere near a fully fleshed out story.

Any idea when it will start and where (url) it will take place?

It will take place in a snowy area, when and where doesn't really manner.

I'm excited too.  I was pretty heavily into finishing up Pixel Myth when last year's started so I missed out.  This year the timing is much better.  I'll be entering.  I'm at the point in my tile making career that it feels a bit ridiculous that I've never made a game.  I think even the attempt of making my own will help me make better art.  Also I like contests, they provide nice and clear expectations and deadlines.

I'm not doing too much preparation, mostly planning and gathering or making resources.  I have a loose plot line and I'd like to get the main characters solid before I start.  I'm in the process of making a new graphics pack and decided to use that for the contest.  I may end up using some outside art too, I've found a few things that could work with some editing which should help if I need something fast.  I'll be using Ace, and I'll mostly likely work alone.  My dad offered to help with the programming side of things but he hasn't gotten around to learning the language yet so I'm not going to count on it.

@ Sharm, I agree that making a game will help with resource making. Seeing everything really live and breathe not only gives a person so many ideas, but you'll discover inventive ways to use things and think about how the pieces work holistically as a full game. When you encounter something that didn't work as smoothly as you intended, naturally what happens next is the idea on how to solve it. And those are the sorts of lessons that can really help someone fine tune their craft. Contests like IGMC really lends itself to one thinking on their feet. Can't wait to see what you come up with. Best of luck.

Definitely entering and I just can't wait for it to get announced. I wanted to make this game for a bit, but I decided to wait and just make chapter 1 the contest entry, then work on it afterwards. I've been making games for literally years now, but haven't released anything, always telling myself that I will do better next time. Having a a deadline and some nice motivation to make it good will certainly help.

Anyway...

What are you guys up to?

I haven't implemented anything (not going to break rules and get disqualified ^^') but I have a rough idea of what I'm going for. Some survival, some open ended world / quest aspects, some DnD mechanics... A lot of lore and story though and a very interesting graphical twist, I assure you. Hopefully will turn out as nicely as it did in my head.

How do you imagine your participation?

A lot of writing and research, then a lot of photoshopping tiles and other stuff. Not that much scripting or anything, with that many scripts around I should be good to go.

Which engine will you use?

VX Ace, I can't imagine using anything that doesn't come up with a premade bunch of code and mechanics. With only a month to work anything premade is a valuable asset.

What DLCs will you use?

Vexed's POP Horror City with a twist and some other stuff, that's all I can say for now.

You got a storyline ready, or are you the kind of people that will make up something during that time?

I have a vague idea, but I usually write things as I go. Feels more fluid to me, I don't like prewriting all the dialogue or anything like that.

I might enter to the contest.

It's really if I can be bothered to really.

I don't really have a great selection of people that are reliable when it comes to RPG Maker related stuff and I have had enough disappointment for a few months. So I probably end up making a solo project but I don't really feel like it.

Totally worth it. It is one of the prettiest assets around. You and @Celianna make FANTASTIC pixel art. The only con is that these assets are so unique that they don't collaboratre well with other assets. But still with a little editing, you can have a fantastic variety of tiles to play with and do stuff for your game. I can't wait to see what you are gonna make @Sharm! :D

Well why not making a simple solo game just for the participation? I mean it would be great to see what you can make after a year and you already got a lot of experience making The Clans Cursed Souls I suppose. Why not showing us what you can do into a month after one year of experience? Why not compete with us? I enjoyed really meeting you all through your games online and after that here on the forum too. I mean you, creators of Listen, Unravelled, etc etc.

Holy crap! @Celianna is one of the judges! :D
Actually, she had to back out because of the timing issues.

Also, its best to use the topic over at game dev fort that Esrever linked for any information on the contest, as I'm trying to only answer questions there to prevent released knowledge being fragmented and hard to find.

Oh well, that's unfortunate.  :(

So who are the judges? Do you people announced anything about them? Even a possibility?

I can imagine who will be at the back end of the website hosting the event. It will be you again right? ;)

Might be best to ask those questions in the other thread. Where Touch is answering questions. ;)

I'm running the contest and will be the head judge. All other judges will be anonymous, though they can announce themselves if they are judging or not depending on what they wish to do. The judges include artists, hobby & indie devs, and people familiar with Video Game QA.

I crossposted the info into the other thread to keep it consolidated :p .

Touchfuzzy is the head judge? I promise this time my game won't have a 90 x 90 house that you have to navigate in the first 5 minutes. Instead, it will be 80 x 80 (runs from shoe thrown at him)

Now onto the topic at hand. I'm still not sure if I will have enough time to participate, but I hope to. I have about 3 ideas for short games that I'd love to work on for a month and see if they can go anywhere. I think they will end up being ~30 in the end. One is for a short RPG, one is for the prequel to last year's entry, and one is for a non-RPG.

I think if I have the time I'd like to go for the non-RPG, just to do something different. I doubt it will win (as I'll be entering it cold with NO experience at making a non-RPG), but it might be fun at least.

I don't remember this, is this something I complained about? After I'm done with judging, all the games just blur together outside of a few games that stick with me. (I have trouble remembering some of the winners from last year).

No, but others noticed that large map that played my game (the same map is now 36 x 29, after I learned how to better map a mansion). Still, I did learn a lot just from entering a game and having others from the forum here play it through the secret santa event, so it was still worth it in the end.

Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
To whom ever person or persons who re-did the DS/DS+ asset packs for MV (as in, they are all 48x48, and not just x2 the pixel scale) .... THANK-YOU!!!!!!!!! XwwwwX
