So im making a game where you have to press a switch to activate a event which is basically a bridge u use to cross a lava terrain(which is a custom made damage tile). The thing is though, walking over the bridge still gives u damage. I tried out a lot of ways to do that, like shift clicking the tiles underneath the bridge event and such, but the thing is the the lava tiles underneath the bridge even should give damage before the bridge is switched on and shift clicking negates that. I was hoping someone here could help me out please. Thank you in advace

Did you inserted the damage by the tileset editor? If so, it'll probably damage regardless of any events above.

have you used a sprite or a tile as the event image?
you can only change tile properties by using a tile as the event image, as soon as you use a regular sprite the regular tile will be in effect.

Make the page of the event where the bridge is "invisible" a touch event that damages the player. Remove the terrain damage tag from the lava tile.
That should make the player take damage when the bridge is not there, but be able to walk safely across when it is there.

But wont the character than be invisible while walking across the bridge? I want him to be visible throughout.

Make it like this:

Set an blank, passable event that applies damage to the player every time they touch it.
Then, create a new page with a set switch to make the bridge appear (with the graphics of the bridge). Then just leave the rest of the event commands of that page blank and put the bridge as passable and under actor.

No the character wont be invisible. Make sure the event priority is set to below player as Ebanyle said.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
