The setting is essentially a fantasy world similar to Northumbria in the Viking Age, with Christianization surrounded by the remains of paganism.

The main character is a prince of a small kingdom similar to Northumbria that was recently set upon by vikings. The king is locked up in his keep, as are much of the clergy men, and the people are terrified. Only you have the courage to set out into the now threatened lands to do what you need to do.

The item is a key item that at any time, you can press a button to trigger and will teleport you outside the dungeon to a checkpoint. It's purpose is to address the possibility of being trapped in the dungeon and having no way out. It can be used and reused.

Currently, it is Recall Item. But it needs some flavor. What would you call it? If I use your name, I'll cite your handle in the credits for special thanks.

From what you have described, such a character would be familiar with biblical/Christian terms and images.  So...

If this is to rescue the player from certain death - Lazarus Escape

If it is a general defensive item, to get the player out of trouble, then -

Archangel Protection

or

Guardian Angel

or

Good Samaritan

It should be a document, signed by the king, named "Right of Abode" or "Right of Passage". I think that fits your theme quite well.

I have two in my game. A "Magic Bell" which is exactly like yours. You find it later in the game and it replaces the other item. An "Escape Rope" which pulls you out of the dungeon but is consumed in use. So the Magic Bell is just a permanent version of the Escape Rope.

You could have a Right of Passage which will teleport you out of the dungeon but gets used up. AND you could have the more permanent Right of Abode. They both fit your theme. Look them up type them into Google and you'll learn a little bit of history too.

On the topic of the Bible, I remember a time that Peter was in prison. An angel came and had him wrap his cloak around himself or something and told him to follow them out. He did and they snuck past all the gates and guards and he wasn't able to see how it was all happening but it was. When he got back home his folks said it was his angel that brought him home.

So my 2 cents, Peter's Angel/Cloak.

Off the top of my head: Sake of Heaven or Heaven's Sake just to be funny, but I really like this guy's "Peter's Cloak" one for the theme.

Christopher is the saint patron of travelers so maybe a simple medal or even stronger a relic (like a bone fragment) bearing his name.

I appreciate all of the responses. I regret to say I forgot posting this topic here, and I came to a solution before seeing these suggestions. But I did read through all of them and there are some good answers there, and I need to remember to come on this board more often, especially after I make a thread.

The name given was, The Rune of Thunor.

Speaking of mentioning the Bible, in this game, basically Eddais is faced with a decision to choose between the Holy Bible and the Rune of Thunor, after facing awful tragedy and his prayers being unanswered. If you refuse to cast off the Bible to equip the Idol, then when you get stuck and use them Holy Bible, it will say that you prayed but nothing happened and you died a slow agonizing death questioning your faith, dying of thirst. If you take the Rune of Thunor, it's magc will help you.

wow that's very partisan. So the "message" of your game is that Pagan faith trumps Christian faith. Or is it really a choice? Does the player, trough Eddais choose or is it a scripted decision?

Does not casting off your faith leads to an inevitable Game Over?

mind that I'm not saying that as a shocked Christian, I'm actually agnostic.

Zaen, please avoid double posting, as it is against the forum rules. You can review our forum rules here. Thank you.

As a way of preventing the forgetting about a thread you start, if you check the 'Follow' box, you will get a notification when people post in it.  That will remind you.

On the Bible vs Rune of Thunor, this comes across in your summary as an illusory choice for the player.  It seems to fall into the category of "Oh but thou must!" about which much has been written in this forum.  If one choice leads to Game Over and the other doesn't, then I can't see how it is a viable choice for the player to make.  Rather than present a false choice, do it as a cut scene.  I think most players would prefer that.

Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
