I'm still green when it comes to these forums but I'm having trouble figuring out what I may be doing incorrectly with the Yanfly VisualStella Weapon Animation Plugin for MZ.

The Weapon Images I try to use end up appearing behind the battler and not actually being held by the sprite. (Side View)

I have 20 Weapon Sheets and have correlated the number of the image I want to use in the notes for the specified weapon with the script given <Weapon Image: x>

Am I missing a script that places the image in the sprite's hands when the attack happens?

Unless I'm missing something, weaponsprites are always drawn behind the battler. Arranging it so that they're in the exact right pixel perfect position so that they appear to be held by the actor swinging them is a matter of lining up the custom weapon on the sprite sheet in the exact right spot. You'd have to experiment by moving a weapon a few pixels in a direction, and then seeing how it lines up with your battler sprite.

If you have different sized battlers, who use the same weapon sprites, you're going to have an issue where the weapon never lines up with both of their hands, because the sprites are different sizes, or their hands are in different spots.

This has nothing to do with the visustella plugin, and would happen if you replaced one of the default weapon images with one of your custom ones as well, I'd wager.

So I'm confused by a bit of terminology - do you mean that the sprite is being drawn beneath the battler (on a lower graphics layer), or behind the battler (as in, the sword is floating at their butt)?

You would want the weapon to be drawn beneath the battler, that way it looks like they're holding the weapon and not like the handle is floating over their fist. If the weapon is behind your battler, floating in a different part of the battlefield, that would be undesirable.

So can you clarify, and maybe post a screenshot of what you're talking about?

If you're talking about the layering order, I wrote a very small plugin to display the weapon sprite over the actor sprite (link in my signature under plugins - misc Javascript snippets) - however, that was written for RMMV and I don't own MZ to test if it still works there. Someone who owns MZ and has enough Javascript knowledge to edit a plugin might have to help there if that is indeed what you need.

Ok so-everything is back to normal now. No more glitches, no more page crashes-it's nice. Hopefully it will STAY this way for at least a while.
