So this is a problem that's come up before: Using your weapon when you use a skill.
I've read a couple of threads on this, and I've seen two solutions: One was use a Yanfly animation, and the other was set the attack to the element 'normal attack'. However... for me, the latter doesn't work.
I'd rather avoid using a Yanfly animation if possible. I will if I have to, 'cause this is just a personal preference, and because this seems really stupid to me and I'm certain I'm missing something obvious (again)... but I just can't get the weapon to show up for any skill but the basic 'attack'. Here's what I do:
Start a brand new test game -- no plugins, no nothing. Turn on side-view battle.
Set the 'attack' skill name to 'attack1', and its 'skill type' to 'special'.
Copy attack1 into the third slot of the skills. Rename this new, duplicate attack to: 'attack2'.
Set it so that the character learns 'attack1' and 'attack2', and the skill type 'special'.
...When using attack1, whether on the normal attack command or through the 'special' menu, the character uses their weapon.
When using attack2, which should be identical in every way except id, they do not.
I've turned off all plugins, and all I've done is mucked with the class stats a bit for my game. But 'attack1' and 'attack2' are identical in every way except their name and their id. Is using a plugin really the only way to get the main character to use their weapon for any other skill except attack? If so I might just stick to front-view battles, because that just seems utterly moronic to me.
...Or am I just missing something painfully obvious?
Wouldn't be the first time. ^^; Please and thank you for any help anyone can provide!
