I want to have a battle item (mind you, all "weapons" I have are categorized as Items rather than Weapons in the game) that will do a good amount of damage at the selected target, but then do a little bit of damage to every other enemy. Is this possible?

Are you talking about area of effect damage?

Possibly? I don't know what that is.

EDIT:

I got Yanfly's Area of Effect script, and I don't seem to be using it right... In my script editor, I put it beneath all Yanfly battle scripts that I have. If it matters, I also use this Yanfly damage/heal pop-up script.

For the weapon I have this in the notes:

<aoe map>

<aoe row: x>

And for the enemies I have:

<hitbox width: 500>

<hitbox height: 500>

But when I use the item in a battle test, it only hits the target.

...Should this be moved to script support?

Yanfly's area of effect does not do what you want, because it targets a screen area around the target and only those inside that area are hit, not those enemies outside that area. If you hit only the target, the area you set is simply too small or the other enemies are too far away from the target

Ah, I see. I'm never too savvy with understanding how scripts work (even if they have very explicit instructions and images...) I'm baffled at how many scripts I've actually managed to successfully implement over the course of a year.

What I've decided to do instead is just make the weapon hit all, but have certain enemies have an element resistance to suit the need of the battles in that area of the game. It's a good way to get the same functionality I was looking for in the first place and works just fine for me.

Either way, thanks for trying to help me. I'm glad I got this account, even if what I was originally searching for doesn't work out, I can always trust in the community to be of help.
