Weapon Loadout

I don't think a script like this exists exactly, but I wanna try my luck.  I'll let the scripters decide if it exists, a script that would allow this to happen exists, or if it has yet to exist.

Actors have multiple slots to equip weapons (more than two).  However, they don't wield them all when the player selects "attack," rather they only wield the one that is designated as "equipped," while the others are on standby.

If there is more than one weapon in these slots, the actor has a "loadout" command in battle.  Selecting this command opens a menu with all the weapons in the slots.  Selecting one "equips" the weapon, which is used the next time the actor selects the "attack" command.

An example of this feature in action:

Player has a party of Eric the Soldier and Natalie the Monk.  Eric has four slots in which his weapons can be equipped.  His loadout can consist of up to four weapons.  Natalie has two slots.  Her loadout can consist of up to two weapons. The player equips an axe, a bow, a sword, and a club to Eric's loadout.  The player enters combat. On Eric's turn, the player selects "attack," but the axe's element proves ineffective. On Eric's next turn, the player selects "loadout" and selects the bow.  Eric the actor is equipped with a bow and his turn ends.On Eric's next turn, the player selects "attack," and instead attacks with a bow.I hope I've conveyed my desired outcome.

EDIT:

I guess if this does become a thing, I'd like to add another detail.  I'd prefer if the number of slots is definable by class and not actor.

so basically, you want them to have changeable weapons during battles, but unlike what most battle change equip scripts does, you only want them to be able to choose from "equipped" weapons?

Yes.  Yes, exactly.

All other scripts I found allow the player to change weapons and other equips.  I'd like to avoid switching armor while orcs are swinging at the actors.  With clubs.

This idea limits it to both weapons, and weapons brought into combat.

This is similar to something that I would like to request for several games that I'm working on. However, my version differs in that instead of allowing any amount of loadouts and types of weapons, it would give a separate pair of slots and attack commands for melee and ranged weaponry.

I wish you luck with your request, and hope that both our requests can help many projects should they be made.

w8, that also means that only the active weapon will give stats and others right?

I do believe that's what they meant. It would act like a limited form of a "change equipment in battle" script, with what could be changed being limited to player-set weapons loadouts.

To the OP, am I correct?

Very interesting. I could have used this in the past. Very nice. I hope someone can do this.

In that case you'll need a modified equip command script, and I haven't heard from one that does something like this.

You need a new way to designate the allowed weapons that might be exchanged during combat - you can't use any of the existing equip scripts for this, because those would add the features of all equipped weapons.

Then you need a new equip command, that offers only from those new slots and don't allow anything else to be changed.

Most probably this might be made with changing between several preselected equip lists, with a script configuration to lock some equipment to base choice if that part (armor for example) isn't supposed to be changed - otherwise you would have to make new scenes instead of just modifying the regular equip scene.

I can't do this myself, but it looks interesting enough that one of the scripters might take this as a challenge, especially because it can be usefull for a lot of different games.

Okay, is there a script out there (you can even go ahead and condescendingly LMGTFY) that allows ONLY changing weapons?

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
