Hi! I'm new to these forums, but I saw this and thought to myself "Hey, this might be fun!"

and i'm glad i did! it really was a lot of fun to draw this, even though the end product is super messy

I hope I didn't overdo it aha....but, anyways, here's my entry!

you can still see the sketch lines. really well. :|

Thanks! Wow. Now that you said it, I'm seeing it too... I think it's the flag. And the armor. And the everything, really. //haha

I think the problem is I can only draw European style armor-- I probably should've done something different for this challenge.

oh well....!

You all need to tell me your art secrets.

The kindergartist strikes again:

I think I'm done. But tips on how I can improve are always appreciated :) You guys are all great artists!

Caught some time in my traps so some words to everyone so far:

Just hope I didn't forget or confuse anyone with anyone else.

@Archeia: I like the story in those notes and scribbles, sounds kinda poetic and puts images in my head. Always a good sign.
@supercow: Very cute armours. Shape-wise I think I'd prefer the diamond one. Prefer as in "if I were in a game and had to choose which one to wear for the next battle".

@Talo: Interesting idea.

@nio kasgami: I like the dynamic style, especially around the feet.

@Iron Croc: Now this was fun to listen to.
@Clydous: Same here, too.
Both of you music guys' entries got stuck in my head for a few hours on the respective days I listened to them. <3

@ryuuga: I like the sleeves, they're a nice touch.

@OceansDream: Love how easy this is to identify as metal. Plus, really nice colour choice.

@Julien Brightside: Now I want to play a game where the best combination of armour for a quick and deadly axes-wielding warrior looks like that.

@daheji: While the design is a matter of taste ;) I can't argue that it's well executed and having three weapons is a nice idea.

@numfanklewhat: <3 Can't say more than "<3". Cute + funny + well drawn = 3*win.
(Plus, it brings back memories of whenever I tried to fold a paper ship I ended up with a hat instead)

@CorneredCosmos: I can see some interesting ideas in there. :)

@Pretzelbox: Nothing wrong with sketch lines. Plus, armour is super pretty. <3

@wallacethepig: Haha, the shield is a funny idea. x)
But I didn't notice at first that he's supposed to kneel until I noticed the yellow knee protection. Maybe it's got something to do with the green, looks like ground, so something felt a tad off. So if the ground/green went actually to where he basically touches the ground, the little knight'd look more like he's actually sitting in space (hope it's understandable what I mean ._.).
General tips to improve usually involve drawing from live and/or photographs, analysing/studying instead of just copying while doing so. Tends to be the greatest help (plus, it also improves hand-eye-coordination, knowledge of stuff, memory and observational skills. That's something that applies to visual artists of all skill levels I think).

@palladinthug: Such clean lines. <3 Even your sketch lines look pretty clean. *envious* ;)
The patterns on the arm guards irritate (is this the right word?) me a bit, though, as they don't seem to follow the shape. You seem otherwise to have a great grasp on volume, so it kinda stands out. It's especially evident on his left arm. Hope you don't mind me pointing it out.
______
Now, for my final submission:

Had a bit too much fun, I think. But this week's challenge was pretty much the only thing that kept me sane this week.Still not sure about the painting, but I haven't painted a character in ages so it was a nice practice.

Thanks Chiara.  I like how you and numfanklewhat, and Julien did submissions without metal.  That shows some great creativity.  Yeah I had the same notion on the design since I didn't fill it in before I placed it, hopefully I can get it to work today.

Very early WIP. Getting his body style layed down then his armour... This probably isn't neccisarry though.

Changed my mind I'm going to save that sketch for a character for another project.

(WIP)

I've started over and this is now what I got so far, excited for this one haha...image.jpg

Thanks for the feedback Chiara. It is appreciated.

I likeyour type of armor, looks light and protective. Probably a scout or something.

Nicely done character Paladinthug. He kinda looks like he should have been in the Disney version of Robin Hood.

Less than a week and I can move into my new apartment and out of this bad situation. I'm so excited! Then game making power will increase. :kaoluv:

I really tried to pull off something for halloween, but I don't feel like going on. I feel like the plot I was building was too generic, and I couldn't connect to it as I do with other projects. On the bright side, I've been working on my cosmic-puzzle project, so far I think the core mechanics are working properly, so I'll be creating some large test maps to see how it works out.
