@blademan729: See what everywhere? Violent Magical Girl genre?
I actually think about Dokuro-Chan when I think of Magical Girls that bludgeon things to death, not Madoka. And then the Magical Idol group from Samurai Flamenco <- actually they were my direct inspiration when I wanted to do an older looking lady, with no magic, smashing things with a stick that LOOKS like a staff. haha
((and magical girls with chainsaws makes me think of Korewa Zombiedesuka? before Madoka)) Madoka was dark and broody angst fest; It was a genre analysis, a statement about how dark and messed up the idea of little girls fighting evil with magic was. I'm sure it wasn't the first of its kind either, but magical girl anime isn't really my genre, so I don't know the history behind all of the shows that go in this category well.
I was aiming for the comic violence with Ulrika hitting things. Not a dark satire of a genre. lol Either way, I wouldn't blame Madoka for the concept of violence and magical girls coming together.
