Introduction

Weekly Art Challenge is a recurring event for the Art, Literature and Music forum wherein there is a new challenge for artists every week. The goal of the event is to encourage art and going outside the box by imposing interesting challenges and limitations. After a week, a poll will be up for everyone to vote to select the best entry. The winner with the most votes will receive a pretty little badge for bragging rights.

Also, please be sure to check out the previous challenge's thread.

Rules

  • A new challenge/theme will be posted up in a new thread every week.
  • Participants are to follow the rules imposed by the challenge/theme. Any questions may be asked. However, I reserve the right to disqualify any entries that I feel do not meet the criterion.
  • A challenge lasts for approximately a week. Deadline for all Weekly Challenges is strictly at 12:00AM, GMT +0, on Monday.
  • On the week after, a poll will be up in the same thread. Only one entry will win. In the case where there are more than one winning entry with equal votes, all winning entries will be rewarded.
  • Poll for voting will be available from the submission deadline to Saturday, when the winner will be announced.
  • The winner gets to call the theme/challenge for the following week. If the winner does not wish to do so, then I will come up with one.
  • All forms of art are welcome.
  • No need to register. Just start working on your entry right away if you've decided to participate.
  • Post your entries in this thread. WIPs are encouraged, but please explicitly specify your final submission.
  • There is absolutely no measurements coming from us on the completion of a piece. Whether a piece is complete for final submission or not, is entirely your own call. So don't be discouraged if you think you can only afford to doodle a couple lines. Anything is fine.

This week's Challenge

A Formidable Enemy.

  • Deadline: 12:00AM (GMT +0) on Monday, January 20th, 2014.
  • Poll for voting will be available from the submission deadline to Saturday, January 25th, 2014.
  • Any questions may be asked here.
  • All forms of art are welcome.
  • Post your entries in this thread. WIPs are encouraged, but please explicitly specify your final submission.

And that is it. Have fun!

If it bothers you a whole lot that I started off your thread this way, I can take it down.  Just being silly.

When you say "A Formidable Enemy", in what context shall we take it?

That's all there is to it. You can interpret it in any way you want. The point is to be creative about it.

Any context but cross dressing Ralph, that is.

I would love to enter this, but have nothing. I was considering a rebus puzzle to mess with all of you, but I think not. I'll do something though, you just wait and see!

Hello!

Are we allowed to submit more than one entry? I didn't see anything about it in the rules. Just double checking to be sure! ^_^

EvilEagles, I know you're the host, but this is like the 7th one, you got to start submitting work too :D

Anyways, when I get home I'll sketch out my concept plan(s), right now it's in my sketchpad (wish I had a mobile wacom tablet or something where I could just sketch in it like a sketchbook, then instantly upload it to my pc via USB or something... I know there's a technology out like that!!!)

Well my submission is usually the badges (and more occasionally the header logos), as they conform to the themes too to a certain degree :p

BUT HOW ABOUT THIS THEN

@Chaos Avian: Loving the concept and loving the art. That's quite the little smirk you've got going on xD

@CC: That is a cool scythe and I love the face area. It's very foreboding! And as always, your line style is just a joy to look at.

@Clydos: Cool! A music submission. Nice to get some other art forms up in here! I hope you participate in future weeks as well. :> Nice song too, certainly fitting of a battle.

@radiostarkiller: Dang that shading--<3 Awesome use of colour!

@cosmic kitty: Having bathed a cat before, that is certainly a worthy foe. Cute! :D I mean...vicious!

@Archeia: You already know I love that fluff~ The full sketch is really cool too!

@NXperience: Great use of expression! The desperate need for my possessions is certainly in his eye.

@Blades of Glory: I can't decide if that butterfly tattoo makes him less scary or more scary. Either way, he has a rocking awesome nose.

@EE: RAWR the tongue is my favourite part :D

@wallacethepig: Heh, punny. There's certainly a glint of evil in that bulls eyes.

But I think we can all agree, no matter how formidable the above drawings are, mlogan's photograph really steals the show. Hardly can a sight more frightening be seen than that of ... laundry.

Using hiddenone's QTE tutorial I've been able to setup a simple fishing system. Instead of just the pointer moving, the goal moves as well. Holding the action button scrolls the pointer and pressing the down arrow key hooks the fish. The speed of both is variable as well as the number of successful hooks needed for a catch.
When someone helps you solve a problem, it's good to report the thread so it can be closed, but it's also nice to go back and post in the thread to let them know their suggestion actually worked. And, you know, to say thanks for helping.
