It's a game about Nothing!
- George Costanza
I'm in the middle of a contest that ends Monday, so hopefully I'll still have a chance?
I'm a new user of RPG Maker MV, and this contest sounds like so much fun! I really want to give it a try, and put all the things I've been learning to good use. Good luck to all participants!
Can I use the assets/dlc from RPG maker VX Ace in RPG Maker MV for this contest?
Hmmm, I have a question regarding the contest and Quebec, since we have some strict laws regarding contests. In the eventuality a Quebec resident was to win, are we eligible to the prizes? If not, can we still compete and what happens to the prize won? Is there an option to give it away to charity for example?
@NeroFumes Yes, as long as you own both engines.
*looks up rules for having a contest winner in Quebec* *whistles* I very seriously doubt Quebec residence are eligible. Wow. That's rough.
A we talking a "Good Game" or a run of the mil game using the standard resource pack that comes with RPG maker MV with almost no effort put into it?
Because frankly, 1 month is about enough time to get an Alpha drafted and maybe a small demo released for someone wanting to make a "Good Game".
And don't even get me started on a "Great Game" you wouldn't see a playable demo until 5 months from now!XD
Sums up my gut feeling about this haha. I will probably still try to enter but it would be disappointing to be excluded from the competitive part of it and not even have my entry judged.
@deathsia It's possible to make an actually good game in that time limit, especially since the play time only needs to be an hour. Yeah, many of these will be pretty bad and buggy, but there have been some honestly fun and interesting games with good graphics made in that time period for the last contest. I'm not sure why you're complaining about the likelihood of bad games made for this though, you don't have to play these games if you don't want to. You can join in if you want, of course.
@Geoff Moore Hey I was just so certain you were doing the Academy stuff. XD But it will be amazing to see you enter here.
@Sharm Uh well, another time my home province makes me relieved to be too lazy to enter a contest that isn't Lotto-Québec approved. (But c'mon this isn't a lottery! How can some creators just show their skills and being cultural ambassador trough this?) Where were those rules again?
yeah @deathsia game jams usually run for a weekend and its not like good jam games are a rarity
1 month is a hell lot of time <3
@Marquise* I just googled Quebec and contest and all sorts of things came up.
I was referring to what new in this bundle and what is a re-bundled (ex. Some Sci-Fi Starter Pack Items are already been bundled during the 2015 Game Making Bundle (all of them are commercial use in any non-rpgmaker and rpgmaker engines so I don't need to activate it on my steam account since I already have license for them)) what new is the Khas Ultra Lighting script)
I don't have the full list of bundle listing but I want to know which one didn't went into a bundle and which one was already in a bundle before.
Edit: kinda sad that this is a small IGMC unlike last time which is sort of grand with guest judge, Mutiple game engine, etc.. I don't understand that this is called Indie Game Making Contest instead of just RPG maker Game Making Contest since you can only join if you going to make it in a rpg maker engine unlike before any game engine is allowed.
They probably didn't want to change the name so that people would still feel free to make games that weren't RPG's. Having been behind the scenes in a contest like this before I can totally understand why this is a smaller thing this year. It's way harder than it seems and each element adds exponentially to making it a complicated tangle. I'm not surprised at all that this time they've toned it down a little.
that being said the prize pool is still pretty big, and i'm happy that we're between ourselves as a community now, in 2015 the RPG Maker engines didn't get to shine as much as they should with all the GameMaker entries
I think it's a good thing it being limited to the RPG Maker software. Others engine entries kinda felt out of place to me last year. Also it makes judging easier and less competence xD
QUICK REMINDER VERY IMPORTANT
remember to hydrate everyone, drink water throughout the day and do at least 30 minutes of excercise per day
guaranteed boost to productivity and mood
im not saying that to y'all, im saying that to myself
Actually, an hour a day of exercise, including cardio, is better.
Any tips on what resolution to target? Or just stick with the default or a 4:3 aspect ratio? Or doesn't matter?
Separate names with a comma.
