Hello, world and Hello the smart community.

I thought JavaScript going to be an alien code. After I looked at the code, I laugh because it is similar to C++ and HTML coding. I will learn the JavaScript soon in the course I am taking.

I would to ask you, the experience JavaScript users. What are tags, attribute, or elements that you often use in RPG maker ? I will try to put all of that in my brain. I am currently using RPG maker MV if you would like to know.

The reason I ask because JavaScript is amazing and can do almost anything. That can be information overload for me. Thank you for responding. I will study for test and taking the test if I respond to you late. I am sorry.

There's almost no HTML in the MV codebase, so you won't be using tags, attributes or elements at all. It's pure JS, for better and for worse.

Make sure you brush up on your JS basics and in particular, have a solid understanding of functions, prototypes and call/bind/apply. (When overriding methods, you'll need to be aware of what you're writing over, where you're writing over it and when you're writing over it.) Knowing your JS regular expressions is useful if you're going to be parsing user notetags.

Let me know if you have any questions, I might be able to point you in the right directions.

JS is kinda similar to C++, but not that similar at the same time lol. The prototype thing in javascript is kinda weird, I have to admit that.

Next is the word "this" in javascript which is a bit abstract. Even I don't know how to explain it, but it refers to the current object. If I use "this" inside a function, "this" will refer to the function.

Honestly javascript is simple, especially if you compare it to other languages like C++ (html is not a programming language lol). There is a serie of videos on youtube that explain every programming languages (or almost all) for people that are already programmers. I just watch the video on javascript (shouldn't be more than 1-2 hour), tried it a bit in MV for one week, than I was good to go.

@aethon and @MushroomCake28, sorry for asking you guys a question. What software you are using to write the code ?

@aethon, I will be learning in the class. However, I took web design class. That is why I ask you it might not cover in the class. Thank you for the links and work hard try to help me.

@MushroomCake28, I did know that HTML is not a programming language.

If you're talking about the IDE (program in which I work on the code), I use Sublime Text. Honestly it doesn't matter much. All I ask for is a black environment lol.

No worries! I recommend Visual Studio Code as a general-purpose text editor. Easily one of the better free options.

He mad, but he cute :kaopride:

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
