What are the advantages of RM2k3?

Considering from looking at the updates it's seems this version breaks the limit to basically switches, variables, as well as how many items. It's seems you can have up to 9999 opposed to 999 in the newer rpg makers without having to find a script to break the limit.

Even before this version you could have a maximum of 5000. I never understood why the newer version limited that to 999.

It's also canceled by now. But yeah, Velsarbor is probably one of the most technically advanced games that were ever created. I've also seen Tactical RPGs, Jump'n'Runs, Shoot'em'Ups and other stuff, it's possible but definitly harder to do with the older maker.
To be fair: Nowadays Velsarbor is pretty much a standard game with some nice graphical techs. Still impressive for a 2000/2003-game but nothing special compared what people have done here on the boards or on freem.ne.jp.

This i agree you can easilly use up 999 slots for inventory especially if there are more than one type of item in hand.

Oh even monstergroups. I am working on a dungeon crawler in ace and to have at least a little bit of structure I also put in groups called "----------------" or "Floor 11-20". And yeah, with stuff like that, you easily get 999.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
