The age-old question when it comes to developing for a number of different platforms - in particular mobile devices where one size doesn't fit all.

Especially if you're using MV, what's your window size, and what platforms are you targetting?  Have you thought about how you're going to handle the different device resolutions / screen sizes if you're aiming for mobile?

I can't offer anything real interesting here, but I usually play (and develop) all my RPG Maker games in the default window sizes.  Now that I'm using a 16:9 monitor, it looks really bad when, for example, I try to fullscreen a 17:13 Ace game.

I know when 640x480 was the limit, many wanted to go to 800x600, and some even higher.  Now that MV allows it ...

My game is 1024x576 which may seem like a strange resolution but its the right aspect ratio (I forget what the numbers for it are) that targets both PC and Mobile (My two targets to distribute the game on)

For example on my 1366x768 laptop it can stretch to fullscreen with no black bars, and also on my phone and many other common phone resolutions it fits fine too.

kinda tired right now so if theres any typos thats why

Looks like iPad dimensions, in landscape, are about 1:1.3333, and the original iPad Mini and iPad 1 and 2 have a maximum of 1024x768 pixels, while later generations double it.  So if I'm only interested in porting to PC, Mac and iPad (I dislike playing games on phones and think the screens are too small), I might target 1024x768.

Using default MV tile size of 48x48, that allows 21.3333 x 16 tiles to fill the screen (minimum map size of either 21 or 22 x 16), but if I go with 32x32 and the tile size changer plugin, I can do 32x24 minimum map size.

I'm also going with 1280x720.

1280 x 720 fits most of monitors and won't look bad.

If you are worried about how much of the map is revealed use plugins to zoom or to block the vision of the player

I'm using 1248x720

On some laptops and PC's with resolutions that are small, including those that only go to about 1300 or so, you get some black bars, but on higher resolution ones the black bars are non existent.

I'm hoping this doesn't become a problem for many players of my game because I'm a big fan of this slightly odd resolution as it is easy to work with.

I chose to use 1248x720 instead of 1280x720 because the tile size I'm using is MV's default 48x48px which divides into an equal 26x17 with my resolution but doesn't divide equally when using the standard 1280x720

576 x 324

Target : Mobile

It really depends what kind of project I'm doing.

Working on a Mobile port,  My battle system a little RAM heavy,  so lowering the resolution allows me to have more things going on the screen.

This does give the game a zoom'ed in effect,  but I personally think it adds a different "style" to the game.

I usually stick to 16:9

I plan to have separate resolutions for mobile and version.

576 x 324 sounds good for mobile, but unless you are using your own menu systems, won't that cause the menus to get messed up?

I have tried before, but it didn't go so well.

Yup, at least in my project

Custom battle, menu and message systems.

Trying to make it less and less "rpg-maker-ish" :D   but the resolution works pretty well for me  (also using Galaxy S6 Edge+ )

Don't forget, aspiring writers: Personality isn't what your characters do, it is WHY they do it.
Hello! I would like to know if there are any pluggings or any way to customize how battles look?
I was thinking that when you start the battle for it to appear the eyes of your characters and opponents sorta like Ace Attorney.
Sadly I don't know how that would be possible so I would be needing help! If you can help me in any way I would really apreciate it!
