I'm current working on a smaller project to develop a basis for my next project. Finished up the overall story last night. Just have to finish up the rest of the database (items, skills, enemies, etc) then start mapping and eventing.

Refining a battle system creation engine by remaking old timey battle systems.

Starting with Final Fantasy Mystic Quest.
That's awesome! I once dreamed of doing an improved version of Mystic Quest, 'cause I thought with some (okay, A LOT OF) fleshing out it'd work well as an RPG.

After spending a ton of time setting up scripts, databasing and planning gameplay details, I realized I suck at mapping.

So now I'm studying maps. Fortunately there are some crazy gurus here, without even needing to go into parallaxing.

I....should be doing the database stuff, but instead I keep going back to maps and making them prettier, and brainstorming little side quests. sigh!

I wouldn't even like to imagine how you keep your ideas together for scripts.
I know I'm replying to a post that's just a page old, but I think I just figured it out. I mostly improvise, but sometimes I would jot down possible ideas I might want to go for next in a text document somewhere.As to what I'm up to so far: I'm working on an Ace version of Arevulopapo's Particle Engine.

Not good at it? I think you're doing a pretty fricking good job of it.

Two things though.

First: Pay attention to the layering of the trees. There are a few trees that should be behind others but are in front. Just look at how high up the image the trunk of the tree is. The closer to the top, the further behind it should be.

Second: Don't just use the green grass under the trees and then the light path in the open areas. The path on this map is extremely obvious, so it doesn't need to be highlighted with a ground tile. Splash some of that dark green around, and add some deep grass to the walkable area as well.

Oh, and uh, third I guess: you could do with tightening up your paths. Unless your sprites are big (which they shouldn't be because they'd be giants to your trees) or the game uses an ABS, the paths shouldn't be so wide. The trees are so dense, but then not dense in the walkable areas? Yeah, they'd be a little more sparse because those paths were presumably cleared, but they shouldn't be so far apart.

Doing some small commissions, then some bigger commissions then working on ideas for the battle system for Adalyn, mostly implementation.

I WANT to work on this but it will have to come later.

Right now I'm working on my chest and shoulders. I've been neglecting them for a while and was just doing leg work. Gotta try to keep that proportion....

OH!....I'm working on my game Maze of the Lost. I'm about a third of the way done.

Working on a particle generator for the particle scripts I posted up.

Not on my computer at the moment, but I'm drawing mockups of how I want it to appear and typing up ideas on what to do when I get back on it.

Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
