Trying some enemy battlers (un-animated, sprite style)
Heartless! <3

Lol, after the map I slave-drived myself on (which still isn't done, and I plan on making it better), I decided to focus on progressing the story and dialogue for a bit...gee, I sure do hop around a lot; one day I'm spriting, the next I'm making a parallax map, and the next is databasing and writing? I need a plan, or something~  :headshake:

This... http://puu.sh/4oDqX.png

Have been making character graphics just for that scene. I want every NPC to have an unique graphic, so it takes a lot. Not because it's hard making them. But because it's repetitive and I get bored, and I'm trapped. When I get bored of that I start fixing stuff, so there's no lose anyways.

Also I need to fill in a little more the scenenery. There's too much emptiness.

Still I'll be very pleased when that intro is finished!

@soma - well, yeah... I'm inspired right now by KH... but for now, I think I'll stick with just editing the normal battlers instead of spriting them as I still need lots of practice for pixel art... but I'll be doing sprites every now and then to practice... and maybe if I get quite fine with it before the project finishes, then I might use sprites... XD...

right now, I'm working on mapping and planning the "skill melding" I'm planning to implement...

EDIT: spoilers

and another:

I absolutely cannot stick with one thing for too long or I get bored as hell... I was really into working on the event systems for my Harvest Moon style game, but now I'm taking a break from that and arranging tilesets, even though I told myself not to do any of that until the systems were in place. Ah well!

@Jaide I know how you feel. Sometimes development can feel paralysing, but those who succeed are those who persevere. Keep on, even if you work unstructured, at least you are working. And in case you don't like the current version, you can keep previous versions to revert back to if you feel you have screwed something important up.

Edit: I am working on the story for my puzzle game centred around dreams, literally and metaphorically. Shaping up to be a real stunner, if I say so myself.

Finished up the first town for LoTL, but being a visual novel, the player won't be able to visit every single home. My eventual aim is to make it a full-fledged RPG, but right now, I want to get the main storyline out of the way. Also worked on the interiors. Gotta say though, its turning out to be a lot prettier than Enelysion. XD

Its far more atmospheric and I have to pat myself on the back for the music chosen as well. I just have that knack of choosing the exact track for the exact setting. =)

Well, with RPGMaker VXAce I was working on a much larger sequel to my short "Evan's Journey" that I made back in RPGMaker2000.

My trial ran out though so that project is on hold until I can buy the program... Unless of course I can port it to VXAce Lite...?

On another, related, tangent... I'm also making a game called "Silver Symbiosis" that is 3D and uses a custom built engine. For that one I have a whole team working on it. You can click the link in my sig if you want more info on the game.

Started out making some aesthetic changes, ended up finding and correcting a pretty major bug. Maybe someday I'll work on actual content and not just system-related things and/or database.

My question is - is there a guide to making battlers/icons/animations/emo sets? ANYTHING?! I'd really like to learn

But I digress. Today I finished my 30 some odd classes and their stat curves as well as about 15 skills from start to finish. Also some custom animations (that may or may not suck)

Picture taken by a friend... edited a bit, thinking of using it for a parallax for a cutscene probably...

@adiktuzmiko: Coloration seems nice, also the overall composition. Is that the original dimensions or you resized it?

The Launcher concept looks good too. You can also use images as buttons instead of plain Windows style buttons. But it depends on other elements you're going to incorporate, like a background and the such.

@Luchino: Yayz, maps from LoTL! They seem pretty darn good, and pretty Luchino style! I still think that there's something in your maps pretty peculiar, maybe the way you do light/shadow effects. IDK.

Keep up good work people,

The original image is larger in height, this one is the cut version that is as how it looks inside the RPG Maker... XD...

As for the launcher, well I'm still on the point of conceptualization of what to put there...

Working on the overworld map for LoTL, setting up character skills, fixing up messed up overlay effects ( I'll probably do a tutorial on how I achieve those effects ). Imported some old unused maps from an abandoned project and put them in my game as well.

YES PLEASE! Lol that would be amazing. Looking good though. I've been working on my skills as well. Got about 40-50 now. Lots more to go. Only almost done with the warrior classes

Fleshing out the intricacies of a story for what I hope will eventually be a game someday. I just love making concept art, bits of lore here and there and slowly get a feel for what the world is like. :)

Oh, and first-time poster! Hi!

Been mostly working in the database..making items like loot, and stat boosting items(that give a random increase; it sounds easy, but it sure took me awhile to get something that worked!), as well as balancing out the characters and enemies. I've still got heaps of stuff left to do though, and yet I feel so exhausted! ;A;

@Cadh: Looking good! Those maps looks great! Have you tried messing with overlays or lighting?

@Chitzkoi: Sometimes creating the story is the best part. Definitely the part that takes the most creativity and imagination. Wait until you get to fleshing out the database (items, weapons, classes, skills, etc). That's when the real fun begins lol

@Soma: I know how you feel man. I've been doing the same thing. As per our discussion, I fixed up the classes, made them more balanced or unique either via stats or params (or soon to be skills). And I've been working on skills now in the database. It's the fun part haha. I'm so tired after a few hours of working in the database!

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
