Still working on my RPG "Bliss" (link in signature).... had to take a hiatus due to a traumatic life event, but I'm back!

REALLY need to work on getting some updated screenshots for the thread

struggling with map making I dont know if its just the tiles or if I just lack the imagination but Im having a tough time making a map I deem satisfactory I completly gave up on making towns and just use the sample maps and edit them a little.

Two new games. One of them being what my friends call Project Gypsy and the other tale of the kingdoms. I am mostly working on tale of the kingdoms now because i intend to make it a small sized game i.e 2 hours or so.

Map skills. Found my notes, so wanted to tackle the issue. It's pretty much like in Breath of Fire, each character can use a special skill when leading the group. Today all I've done is general planning and defined the necessary data inside the actor classes, now I need to determine each behaviour. Some of them are going to work pretty much by eventing, others rely on scripting... I also need to determine all of that as best as possible to cause as less of a mess as possible :'D.

Working on pretty much everything. Made three new tracks for my game.

Working on a quest system, a tactical warfare and troop deployment system, and a large amount of custom graphics for those systems.

Next I'm making improvements on the item and battle system.

Finally, working more on the eventing of the intro.

Basically jumping back and forth between all of the above.

wow... making music and graphics for your game... that's awesome... 

As for me, well made one commissioned script earlier and is working on my current project, doing some more database for the starting things and thinking up on what to add to the intro part...

It's a hassle really. I wanted something final fantasy/yoko kanno ish for my game, but without infringing on copyrights that's difficult, so that left me no choice but to do it myself. So, I use uematsu and kanno tracks as shadow tracks and make original compositions on top of those.

My graphics are mostly for menus etc.

I'm mostly stoked about the quest and warfare systems.

Quest scrolls are bought in pubs, the quests being monster hunter like affairs where you go to a quest area and fight monsters and collect resources.

The warfare system is a suikoden 1 like affair, where you recruit soldiers, and then armies duke it out in a sort of rock paper scissor like system.

It's a bit more complicated than suikoden 1 though, with squads and skills to liven things up.

In any case, it's a ton of work...

I just want to get my demo out soon, but it keeps getting pushed back.

well yeah, doing everything on your own is really hard... I'm doing a lot of things on my own too, not music though as I'm not that good with music...

anyway, decided to work on a short project that I started months ago...

It sure slows down the core development when you have to make your own resources.

I am playing with the idea of making my game completely open so other devs can access the resources I've made, including project files for graphics and music which can be used as references for personal creations.

This way people will have access to a "complete engine" with scripts up and working, detailed events with explanations for various game mechanics and resource creation.

I've been working on 2 projects, one I thought was finished except the beta testing.  Unfortunately (or fortunately, I suppose) the tester has come up with a mega problem which at the moment is beyond me to resolve.  Am trying all sorts of experiments to track down what is the thing which is precipitating the problem, then perhaps it will be possible to ask the forums for a solution.  In the meantime I'm stressed out of my brains, as I am no good with scripts, and have already put in hours and hours on this.

@hian if you do release it as completely open, that would be very generous of you and much appreciated by a lot of people.

A magic-fantasy school/dungeon crawler game (just uhh realized thats exactly what persona is without the magic-fantasy type school).

I'm currently working on my battle system.

I want the battles to be in side-view mode just like in the old final fantasy games. I am having a little difficulty with the script because the main characters always appear way off the battlefield.

I'm just getting somewhere on the first RPG game I have ever made. I almost have the first region I am making done(Starting area, town, Quest zone and region ending dungeon.) Right now I am just struggling with getting the generator to accept changes I put in even after the guide helping me get to the point u.u

Working on two projects as well ( one is testing, obviously ) and the other... not so much. The world map for my new project is frankly.... enormous. I don't have a problem with world building, so I can probably get away with making a huge game world.
 


A WIP. 1/8 and it still doesn't fit. And that excludes the country in the south as well.
Working on the characters themselves as well. I plan to have at least 16, since the game will be seen from multiple characters point of views. From a planned uprising to a group of dark shamans planning their next move against the typical tyrannical Empire ( yeah, need to resort to using the odd cliche or two. Too little and it doesn't feel like those SNES classics, too much and people will start to roll their eyes ).

That's a huge world. Hope you have enough content planned to make it work without feeling empty.

I don't know how long you take on your average map, but I shudder to think how long it would take me to fill a world map that size with cities, dungeons etc, using parallax mapping.

I've seen your mapping though, and it's beautiful.

If there is one RPG maker world that would be worth exploring, it would be yours, luchino.

As for me, still eventing the intro of my game.

Just a little more, and I'll be done.

I'm torn on whether or not to release a sneak-peak of the game, including just the intro, prior to the full blown demo.

The intro section features some combat and some exploration, so it wouldn't be completely without content.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
