So true, I actually like the creating parts more rather than playing the game haha. And now my backlog are piling up again with many games here I want to try one by one .
And here's some of the finished coral reefs tile.. I still think the variation of the coral still a bit lacking though.. but then I might went overboard, making so many tile object just for one map area, it's really a difficult choice.
The clipping problem on the star passage is really annoying in this one, especially when you have a large/tall sprite (the boat). Still need some workaround for this.
On another note, wltr3565, my programmer buddy, is working to make the boat behave like in AC IV sailing portion, where you can stop your boat and walk around it, talking with your party and start fishing, casting your rod in the direction you point around the boat. I'm pessimistic on how he will tackle that, since turning character sprites into map object that you can explore.. sounds like very hard and almost impossible. Hopefully he succeed working on that.
Also a shout out to everyone in this thread who is working on something, hopefully you all succeed on whatever you're working on.
@DustyCat: I'm just using Falcom as an example of a company that makes small-scale (most of their games last like 10~20 hrs if I recall correctly), but well-developed game. They might not have the same fanbase as Squeenix or Bioware (pre-EA acquisition), but they do darn well for their small following. You'd be surprised by how many games don't have good NPC development - mostly because it's time-consuming to nail down every single bleedin' line for every single situation, rather than copy-paste stuff or just have general fluff-talk.
There is a misconception, that artists should be allowed to have a life(yea a funny concept Isn't it).
I say to all artists with mad skills, to suck it up, and accept your fate as a art making machine, you are destined to serve those who aren't great at art, for the rest of your lives.
Hey look at it this way, atleast you're getting paid right
Hahaha oh man, I sure hope not. Someday, I won't be a slave! T^T I see a light at the end of the tunnel!!
But no really, it's all good and I'm glad to have the commissions xD they are helping me pay my rent lolol but I'm liable to complain about any job that takes time away from making my own game!
working on a commission... it's "finished" but I'm waiting for the requester's reply to a query... since I think he's sleeping now, it would gotta wait until he comes back... aside from that, working on the update for Chicken Games...
Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
