I really like the stuff shown in the standard DS Resourse Pack(great mapping tiles overall, and more awesome char faces is always a good thing), and omg the Materials for VX Samurai downright owns, I so need to buy that.

However I'm on the fence about DS+Resource pack.  It comes with a new Face generator, which is great, and I love the Japanese house tiles(it will go together well with the Samurai pack), but aside from the ouside Japanese House tiles, based on what I've seen, I hate 90% of the other mapping tiles that come with it(which is a major downside to such)

I'm trying to think is it worth it even with its faults, since I'll have all the awesome mapping tiles from the reg DS resourse pack anyway(plus I'll be getting the Samurai pack, so those Japanese tiles will come in handy, not to mention a higher quality face generater is a pretty big plus as well).

What do you all think of the DS+Resource Pack?

the tiles are a bit few, but I think it is still a pack that is worth it...

I only have the standard DS one for now, but from what I've seen, the DS+ is certainly worth it, I love the character generator and the time variety in the tilesets. I personally recommend to buy it.

It's personally top on my wishlist, I think the tiles are totally lovely, and at the very least it will give you more to edit and work with to create your own tiles. (if your into that)

Plus if your using the DS pack you'll probably have more cohesive graphics since they're the same style. Mixing styles can make your game clash a bit.

I like the mapping tiles, the battlers, the ship (great not to have to use my edit of the XP ship ever again), the scripts and many - though not all - of the sprites.  What I don't like are the faces - it's a style which has never appealed to me, and I don't want to use childish faces to tell the sorts of stories I have in mind.

I am glad I bought it because the things I like far outweigh the things I don't.  The quality is high and the value for money excellent.

I don't have the DS and the DS+ was the first resource pack I bought because it had a mix of genres eg futuristic, ancient Japan etc.

The high resolution battlers were a plus, too :)

To be frank the real reason I got the DS+ was the character generator, and I had no idea at the time that it lacked certain assets. I had to figure out how to use it but finally it could be done.

Ok thanks all, I'll probally get it then(hardest thing about buying these sets from this site offers, is they almost never give you a real idea of what the set has to offer(with a few exceptions),, so It's hard to tell some times.

To Alkorri: That's a weird face format/size Isn't(especially when the default face format is like 96x96, or so lol, big difference, you would never think of it in a million years lol(I imagine once imported, VX Ace scales down the busts or something).,

Lmao, um yea ok.

Now the only thing I'm worried about, is how troublesome it is evidently to impliment the DS+ Resourses, and a few bugs/glitches that may or may not still exist. I guess I'll find out how many of the posted issues exist for me, when I DL it.

We made a sample project just for that with over 150~170 maps and tileset passabilities already set, lol.

Oooh about that sample project. I tried to find it myself but only found myself in a single samurai village. Is that what you meant? Plus when I tried talking to the people there, I got crashes. Something about missing samural portraits.

@Irili - Does that man have rabies? I've seen him before ;D

I have both the DS and DS+ and I love them both.  They have different styles and different sizes on objects (kinda hard to mix them unless you know what you're doing), but I like it.  Doing parallax mapping with the DS+ tiles and it's coming out pretty well.  Making custom sheets as well and they are pretty awesome.  Just have to be in the right mindset to use them and to get what you want.  I'll show some basic screenies later.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
