Well, what i hate is..

Final Fantasy changes their battle system per game, example: FFX has a 3D battle system.. It sucked a lot! And then the cinematics get better each time. FFX-2 is the best part of FFX, since their dialogs is now spoken by voice actors, and then Cloud. And his buster sword! I mean come on dude, the buster sword is HUGEEEE! And then Square Enix made the Kingdom Hearts series, Mickey (i mean come on? Mickey) and almost everyone in disney was there! And then some FF characthers were there (Only famous ones like Cloud,Tidus, etc).

So now, what do you hate about Final Fantasy Series?

I wouldn't say the battle system is improving, just that they're changing it almost every time... Maybe I just really like Yuna...

Yeah, suddenly it's ATB. And then it's ABS, kinda confusing huh?

Edit: They keep changing engines, first they use RM and then to different engines.

I never really got into FF as a series. When I had Nintendo consoles growing up, I didn't start playing RPG games until the end of the SNES era, and then the later consoles didn't get any Final Fantasy love. I played the "Tales Of" games and fell in love with that series on Gamecube. When I got an Xbox, I played XIII-2 demo and loved it. So I can't speak to the wholes series, but to XIII-2.

I hate to admit it because I like to say I emphasize story more than graphics but I was totally swooned by the graphics. Everything was moving around, the characters clothes were constantly blowing from an unseen constant wind. Even the hair moved!

Also, I had never experienced that kind of battle system before, a "real-time" take on a traditional turn-based system. I loved the over-the-top cutscenes in the middle of battle, the flashy skills and magic, I loved seeing the characters attack in full 3D with actual defending animations and such. And the battle environments were gorgeous! I lost a few battles because I was too busy looking at the scenery instead of fighting that weird inter-dimensional fade monster thing.

I also loved the ability to make choices in the game and playthrough it somewhat "non-linearly". I got pretty far but never completely beat the game.

I will say one thing I didn't like was the initial trepidation of entering the "FF series". I was told that the game didn't really connect to any of the other games but I found this wasn't completely true. At the very least, it connected heavily with XIII to the point where the opening "refresher" cinematic didn't really help a new player. It explained what happened in the last game, but not what the individual elements actually were or meant. There were characters and fan service along the way that turned me off of the game because I didn't understand it but it was clear it was supposed to be something I should have understood if I was a FF connoisseur .

I used to like the stories and characters.  I also liked that they used to have some of the most interesting mechanics in their games (to this day, I still consider the Final Fantasy V Job System to be the best one among all RPG Job Systems).

With the new one on its way and firmly preordered by me...  I'm hoping this story is as interesting as it sounds and the open world is as fun to run around in as in previous iterations of the games.  But, if I can, I'm ditching that freakin' car.

EDIT:  I should probably elaborate that I've hated the stories and characters since around Final Fantasy 10 being done.  I liked 10, but everything after that has kind of made me angry and unwilling to play the games.  Sorry, wasn't exactly clear on that.  I'm a bit sleep deprived at the moment.

If there's one thing that's admirable about Final Fantasy, its that they showed how old working formulas and mechanics can still hold true to this very day and be highly successful. Bravely Default was literally a mechanic-system-mashup from all the older titles (FF 3 / Four heroes of light graphics, FF5 job system, FF3 magic-tier system without the limited uses but classic MP instead, they threw in a simple "new" turn system (which is not actually new), a blue mage class, most classes are not new or innovative at all)

While it didn't really impress me, it managed to sell a heap-load of copies/digital and get high ratings from both gaming review sites and most of their players.

Can we talk about what he hate about Final Fantasy? The fact that they thought it was a good idea to turn FF13 into a trilogy with the 2nd and 3rd parts sucking really bad.

I found FF from my cousin, but due to me not interested at first. Well i said "Nah, maybe later", and then.. Knowing that FF is a famous series. I decided to try it out, hmmm.. What FF i tried first again? Oh yeah, it's FFX-2.. The battle system is 3D, characthers have their own idle phase. Ex: Yuna moving her gun when she's not moving, the music is great. And then, i decided to dig in into the past of Final Fantasy :3 xD.. I found out their first game is awful, so i decided to play the Final Fantasy, which one again? Whatever.. It has a main characther named Cecil, i played.. Final Fantasy IV: The After Years,(now i  remember!)and i managed to finish it! That was fun, but.. I only had a PS2, an iPad, and Tab.. No PS3 or any other system, i watched others play on Youtube.. They look like they're having fun, and then. I become a Fangirl, Wait. No i became a fanboy lol.. The End..

Edit: Let me try editing the topic's title..

Edit 2: Changed topic title, discuss anything you hate now..

Edit 3: Like or Hate, just talk about what you like or hate..

I dunno, as of late I feel like FF's battle systems have very much been two steps forward, two steps back...

...Why not just have the topic be "What do you like and hate about Final Fantasy?" instead of altering the topic title?  It'll be confusing to other people later who might not know it used to be "what do you love about Final Fantasy".

Shut your mouth, Tidus!

Final Fantasy has a bad habit of making it necessary to have a really annoying character that only matures later because he makes a spectacle of himself.

Another thing that really irks me about Final Fantasy is the mandatory minigames. Blitzball will always be something I dread in FFX, especially since I have no choice but to win one godforsaken game and I have no idea how to play Blitzball. I just want to play the game. D:

Well, their game overs are starting to get scarier per game.. Like Lightning Returns, the game over is caused by an apocalypse.. That sucked now.. Will this game series become a horror soon?

No ending in Final Fantasy has ever topped the "Bad Ending" of Chrono Trigger.  The ending to that game is the big bad destroys the world in a lengthy cutscene that hammers home just how screwed everything is...  And then it shows the world from space with the words "But the future refused to change..."  That ending, right there, is chilling.  It reminds you each and every single time you get it that there is more at stake than a simple "retry the game" menu.  Oh no, you lose, you screwed the whole world.

"Final Fantasy improves their battle system per game.  "

NO. Just NO! And that is what I hate to the series.

You see, Final Fantasy 5 had the job system, that is maybe one of the best systems ever made.

Then came the Espers and FF6 that combines all the good stuff FF series had and even more.

FF6 is maybe the BEST RPG ever made in my opinion. Even the evil boss Kefka was an inspiration of an evil hated person.

And then came Playstation, 32bit era and... Final Fantasy 7 (my first ever played Final Fantasy, with Cloud and Sepphiroth.

While the materia system was really nice, it wasn't as good as other systems.

Graphics were incredible the length of the game was also fantastic. Value for money. 80 hors per play for me.

Then came Final Fantasy 8.

A main hero with not so much depth as Cloud,

a love story that can have a good ending (I liked that)

80 hours of gameplay,

a boss that was fantastic and if you played rushing the game it could be unbeatable...

or take you 2.5 hours to beat as my first time (47.5 hours total game time) :p

Better visuals, nice music, worse scenario though and really lame gameplay.

Then came FF9 that i didnt played.

Then came FF10 on PS2.

Fantastic graphics, ridiculous voice acting

Not so nice system (grid) and so cliche scenario.

And a bouncing ball for final boss. I HATED YU YEVON FIANL FORM!!!

A sad ending! Wow! That was first in FFX. I liked it. It was sweet-sour.

But no!

There were too many romantic people finishing the game and feel betrayed (I would also after so many hours)

So they have broken a golden rule. "Every FF is its own universe"

And then Came FFX-2. I hated it for breaking the tradition.... but to be honest... it was good. The most near to FF5 job system Final Fantasy.

Then FF games depend on action.

Thus I wasnt interested to play any of these.

Meanwhile I discovered Shin Megami Tensei Persona.

"And then the cinematics get better each time.  "

YES. As I said.

"...and then Cloud. And his buster sword! I mean come on dude, the buster sword is HUGEEEE!"

Yup.

"So now, what do you like about Final Fantasy Series?"

Wait what? It's about hating right?

I really wish they take the series back to the basics. To be honest FF1 is the game in the series with the least amount of elements I hated (that is, for a game that came out around that time.) The only gapping flaw for me in FF1 was the *absurdly* low accuracy rate and the high encounter rates. The content the game had for it's time is like calling it the Skyrim of the 8-bit era. It was just a very fun and addicting NES game, and I'm not even looking at this with nostalgia glasses. And they never went back to that system again. Not saying there wasn't anything good after that, but I REALLY want Square to take the series back to the roots that saved the company in the first place: An open world adventure with several customizable characters whose classes were set at the beginning of the game.

Anyways the only other FF I played were lV (Just above Mediocre), Vl (Great), and Vll (Good, but didn't age well) and spinoffs like Secret of Mana, Chrono Trigger/Cross, and Bravely Default.

Yeah, i like they would use the old engine they used for FF1. I hated FFX-2 because it has very bad content in it, you see YRP's bodies? Yeah it's bad

A lot of companies do that with each of their games especially those using their own engines...

Ah Blitzball, my favorite part of FFX aside from Yuna and Tidus... I hated FFX-2 for removing the playable part of blitzball...

so hopefully tomorrow i get to go home from the hospital i've been here for 5 days already and it's driving me mad. I miss my family like crazy but at least I get to use my own toiletries and my own clothes. My mom is coming to visit soon i can't wait to see her cause i miss her the most. :kaojoy:
Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
