For me, the power and simplicity of it. It makes it easy for someone who's never programmed a game before to make a professional level game without having to learn coding. What about all of you? What do you think is best about it?

The development speed is the main thing. I CAN code, but putting together something at least decent with RM takes literally half the time it would take with Unreal or C++ or Visual .NET whatever. You can focus on design, items, writing and balance and cool stuff, and not so much on technical implementation.

Someone said rapid prototyping, but... rapid prototyping.

    Ease of use.

I was learning GameMaker language (very similar to javascript) so I could make an RPG in GameMaker Studio. While I was learning, I thought - why the heck am I bothering to make an RPG here when I've got RPG Maker? Walking, attacks, experience, stats, armor/equip, tile collision, etc. are all programmed in for you already. You just need to edit the important stuff and the graphics (well you should edit the graphics, but its super tempting not to!). You can focus on gameplay elements instead of coding the player how to even walk when the player inputs "up" :)

Granted, I was trying to code an RPG so it could be an action RPG, something RPG Maker can't do without immense effort. But still. There's a lot to love about this program!

RM pretty much gives you a complete game from the start, you just need to customize it.

For me?  The options.  I wish there were more.  I wish some of the ones in the old RPG Maker 2000 still existed in the newer versions.  But, I love all the options I have.  You can usually create anything you can think of with the program.  Much of it even without a plugin or script or anything.

The other thing I really like about it is...  It's a system.  As in, it's a lot of moving parts and commands, and if you know how they work, you can actually do some really cool things by linking them together in interesting ways.  I like that it's almost like a puzzle in that way.  Flip some switches, alter some variables, control some movement, flash some events, display some pictures, set up a common event, and then fly around the world without ever leaving the tile you're standing on.  I like the way it all works together.  The synergy of everything in it.  Nothing ever feels like it was meant to be "stand alone".  It all feels like it was meant to fit together, and it fits together even better when you know what you're doing with it.

That's what I like about RM.

I like that I don't have to think like a programmer to make something that looks cool.

The fact that it has at least the basic systems for an RPG already written. I could code them on my own in a different engine but that would take so much time. Plus this community. :3

    I'm with @shayoko

The program is wonderful and very versatile, but the heart of RPG maker lies in the community.

    You, me, them, Everybody...

So yes well the community, the adaptability and the flexibility.

plus no need for a coder to make at least decent things and if using plugins (so thanks community) can do way more than decent.

    Along the lines of coding...

You don't have to code a program for test playing (that's the hardest part I think).

Just hit [F12] (though I'd like the idea of being able to change that as well).

Support for many different audio files is just great.

Creating Items, Weapons, and even Afflictions is so easy. Love making throwing items like Grenades, Molotovs, and Shuriken. BOOM!

Can make characters that have dynamic personalities, easily!

Yeah, I can't think of much more without already repeating what several have already postulated.

The community is one that I won't skip. You guys...

Pre made stuff. Less coding on my part. Rapid prototyping at its finest.
Also eventing just about everything without coding a lick is a plus.

You can do a lot of weird events and sprite animations without worrying about glitches, and you can expect to be able to walk across a map without suddenly turning into a tank and exploding.
