In a VN the look of your text is something I'd consider a fairly important but minor detail. So I have a few questions...

Will there be font(s) ready and available in the program that can be used in any project, even a commercial one? If so, is it maybe the very same font we get with RPGmaker? Also, does VNM come pre-packed with more than one font (That would be awesome)?

Probably it will come with the same default font and(with help of some scripts/plugins) you may be able to change the font.
It's what always happened, at least in PC rpg makers

Interesting question, especially since a lot of even paid for fonts don't allow for redistribution as part of the license. Knowing what I do about what goes into making a font (a full one, not one of those fonts you can make with free software), I really doubt that it would come packaged with font options, but it should come with one that could be used commercially. Maybe if there's enough demand there could be a resource pack of them.

This! That is something that always gives me a headache when it comes to RPGmaker in general. Fonts are expensive and often have licenses that could prevent you from using them properly anyway, all depending on how the engine works with them ofc.

I too seriously doubt there will be pre-packaged font options (wouldn't be surprised if the developers haven't even considered it). But in that case I'm still hoping for font DLC packs (but not holding my breath though). Because let's face it. As a random nobody it's still much more difficult to create a bad font for your game then it is to create a bad art or sound asset. Also even if many games uses the same fonts it does not stand out as much as it does when many games use the same audio and visuals. A font DLC would simply offer a lot more value (my own opinion) than most DLC resources we've seen released over the years for RPGmaker.

Well, even if we only ever get one font I hope it's a really good and neutral one that doesn't stand out to much but still offers great readability.

I know how to make a real fonts but I haven't yet been able to justify the cost of buying the software I'd need. I'd need to do a bit of refresher study on the subject, it's been years, but I'll keep it in mind that you're interested. If anyone else is interested too, let me know. Anyway, my point is that it's not completely out of the realms of possibility to have a font pack made specifically for use in games.

@Sharm
Me personally is very interested in a good font pack. There is nothing like it in the store and if it had good value and user-friendly EULA I'd probably buy it right away without second thought. Since I'm using both RPGmaker and (soon) VNmaker I'd very much hope that such a font-pack allowed for commercial usage in all those engines and not just, say, RPGmaker.

How many fonts would be good value in my opinion? Well, depends on the price of course. I've no problem paying for more stuff so I'd hope for at least 3-5 different fonts with a price that reflects that. Including a few thematic fonts made for horror, sci-fi & fantasy games might be a good idea (maybe?). But I'm definitely more interested in seeing nice looking neutral fonts that can be used in any kind of project.

If you ever do it. I'm a customer.:kaojoy:

@Archeia I kinda of like Times New Roman, it's a good choice. But how about licensing issues for games? Especially commercial games? I assume you'll have to pack the font into a folder like you do with RPGmaker, correct?

Times New Roman is nice for books/texts but not really something I would use in a game, so I am glad that you are able to change it.

Save/Load complete. Kind of. There should be trinkets or medals that fit in the empty space of the bookmarks to show progression. Was gonna post it earlier, but I couldn't link GIFs. Don't mind all of them having a style level of 000, it just means they're all nakey and don't have anything equipped.

One question-why is your user picture a shelf of greeting cards at a store? XD
Is reading: book on finding happiness through patience.
Gets: impatient.
The hypocrisy of man.
Finalized my save/load window today! I'm really happy with the results.
