Chrono Trigger is one of my biggest influences. Final Fantasy 4 and 6 also.

Oddly enough, the League of Legends. It inspires me a lot of things. When I'm in a bad mood, it's LoL. When I'm in a good mood, LoL. Always LoL. Although lately I've got more toys in my arsenal from here: https://canadamongolia.ca/casino-de-montreal I'm not usually into this stuff, but now I decided to give it a try. It's pretty interesting. It's still not LoL, though.

I've forgotten. I only know my game is gonna be based a bit on Suikoden.
Suikoden was the fallback. The source of inspiration was Shadow Hearts. The former has a simpler system to emulate while the latter is more complex.

Gotta be the first dragon quest or final fantasy, Something about the grind and levelling got me invested back then and whenever a good rpg pops up now , I'm pretty much fixated on it till completion. Pretty much why I try not to look to deeply at released games as I need to get making things rather then playing!

I’m very much influenced by some of the lighter and sillier games. Super Mario RPG, Paper Mario, Earthbound. Above all else, I like to laugh.

Honestly I got RPG Maker MV because it was $13 on a Steam sale and the games have no publishing costs. I was using Godot before but was still wrestling with the learning curve since it uses a modified Python I'd have to learn. That said, Pokemon fangames are almost all done in RPG Maker, some of which are impressive, so I knew what it was capable of.

As for the game I'm working on it's more like Rune Factory and uses an action battle system on the map.

Xenogears and Shin Megami Tensei inspired my game. But that wasn't the originally reason for RPG making.

When I was growing up, I was obsessed with SNES RPGs. So when my brother stumbled upon RPG Maker 95, I jumped on it and the rest is history.

My apologies for forcing you to come into the thread & demanding your contribution.
If're your going to twist my arm, I guess I'll answer ;)

Ironically, it wasn't any rpg or even any regular game but Zelda Classic, a game engine based around the first Legend of Zelda. I stumbled across that when I was younger and loved the idea of making Zelda games, but invariably kept trying to make my games more and more rpg-like without really realizing it. Then I found Don Miguel's site (I think through some random link on ZC's forums) and it gave me exactly what I wanted. There was no particular rpg I wanted to emulate and early on I was even against making rpgs like the others I had played.

For me it's no so much 5 games as 5 series:

1.Final Fantasy (I've played 1, 2, 4, 5, 8, 9, 10, 12, tactics, and tactics advanced)
2.Tales of (I've played Phantasia, Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, Graces f, and Xillia)
3.Pokémon (I've played Leaf Green, Crystal, Sapphire, and Emerald)
4.MMORPGS in general (mostly old-school runescape, World of Warcraft, and Aion)
5.Various other media similar to RPGs (Golden Axe, Gain Ground, anime, and fantasy novels)

I would say Lufia 2. I remember trying to recreate different kinds of puzzles that were in the game into RPG Maker.

I didn't play RPGs that much. Especially turn-based ones.
However, the concept of RPGs stuck after I played Beyond Oasis and Landstalker on Genesis.
Then I discovered RPG Maker in 2008, it was like "Hey, there is software that lets you create a game where you talk to NPC, create quests, and story", and "Oh, like Landstalker? Cool".

All right, I'm super upfront about my inspirations.

1. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 - a game with phenomenal characters that helped me through a hard time, the romance between the two protagonists is inspired by Rex, Pyra and Mythra
2. Final Fantasy VI - classic RPG with excellent writing, currently trying to capture the "magic" of the SNES FFs and this is the biggest one
3. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana - Dana Iclucia (current PFP) inspired one of the two protagonists, plus the idea of dual protagonists
4. NieR Replicant - my game's enemies are partially inspired from the game's Shades (unintentional at first, but I rolled with it)
5. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars - surprisingly, some of my boss ideas stemmed from this game's boss design

With this map, I tried to emulate a Gameboy Color/Advance style.
Hacknet's a hypocritical game.
It's a game about hacking... that's been made in Net framework and the code was left unobfuscated.
So it's a game about hacking that's vulnerable to hacking.
The irony. :p
My message count stands at 999. I was going to ask if I get anything special for hitting 1,000 but then I looked at the post count of some other people who shall remain nameless. Now I don't feel special anymore. I need to either start posting a lot more or wipe my tears away and just focus on my game. Hopefully my keyboard is waterproof. ;_;
