What is your strategy in a battle?

In my game I am making my bosses be immune to the basic Status' BUT not Immune to Advance Status' which adds strategy to the game aspect.Also I have made my game in a way that all skills are useful no matter what so it is fully based on strategy and not constant spams which I despise.
What's the difference between a basic status and an advance status, and how do you get to use advance status?

In my game I also make sure that it's impossible to beat any boss with just Attack. Though I don't have anything like weakness exploiting in my system, it's just about reacting to the situation and use character skills accordingly to what's happening.

 I just use elemental properties like

: Burnt ( -ATK down and increases your vulnerability to Fire magic ),

: Frozen ( like the Stun status, DEF power drops by 25% but can be cured if a character gets hit with a Fire spell ),

: Drenched ( SPD drops by 20%, vulnerability to Thunder magic increases by 50% but Fire Resistance increases by 50% ).

Statuses like Earth Guard grounds thunder-based attacks and increases defense. I just use natural elements and tie them to a certain stat buff/weapons/armour etc. It can result in some interesting party synergy. Like Fire is associated with PWR/ATK, Water is associated with healing/life energy, Wind is tied to intellect/magic etc.

I read this and i'm wondering the same thing too about what Omega said, lol.  Not sure what he/she's doing, but a good alternative is to just have reduced/nerfed state effects on bosses specifically. (Like a poison doing ~15% damage on normal mobs, but only ~3% on bosses)

Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
