What kind of music do you like to build/script to?

So, what do you all like to listen to as you build and script your games?

I myself tend to put on the OST for Chrono Cross. There is just something about it that just helps me think through how the game is going to be, let alone it being, IMO, one of if not the best video game OST out there.

Electronic ambient stuff.

It makes work so much easier, doesnt require active listening, and is neat. So gut.

I would listen to classical / ambient music.

On the other hand, don't take rock music so lightly, it could make you feel inspired.  :)

I second this, especially in regards to symphonic and power metal, it helps sometimes, especially bands such as Epica and Blind Guardian.

It depends. Not to sound narcissistic, but I sometimes listen to my own music when writing, mainly because they're themes I've composed FOR the game I'm working on. Other times, I listen to music from great RPGs of the past, as they help inspire me and excite me to see if others will be able to feel the same about the stories I write as they do for the stories they've played through.

Actually that's not odd at all, I do that from time to time. I don't write my own music, but I do occasionally listen to my game's music as I'm working on the creative side of things, it helps get into the mood of the game (and it's a nice double-check anyway - if you can't listen to your game's soundtrack a couple dozen times without getting tired of it, you probably ought to get better music).

The rest of the time, especially if I'm coding or doing something tedious like editing database entries or formatting text, I'll be the same as West Mains. Put on something positive and upbeat that I can tune out as background noise. Helps me stay motivated, focus on the task at hand and avoid getting bored or distracted. Usually stuff like this:

I love metal too, but I can't really listen to it when I'm working, especially more complex stuff like Opeth or Epica :x

When I'm writing I go for instrumental stuff--jazz, classical, or techno-ish stuff like Bond or Lindsey Stirling. When I'm mapping or making visual art, I go ahead and include vocal pieces, since I wont get distracted by the words.

That being said, I have actually written some good somber scenes while singing along with shonen knife or billy idol, and written some good happy scenes while sarah mclachlan dolefully crooned in the background.

I'll just leave these here. Because I can.

I actually listen to a very eclectic blend of things while scripting generally, but I believe these encapsulate what I generally listen to quite well. (By the way, if you start listening to Deadwing, it starts off slowly -- if you're impatient, skip to about 36 seconds in. Also, that makes you a sad human being with no attention span.)

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
