I buy myself a new fancy pair of glasses every time I finish a game. That's what motivates me~

Knowing that my own fantasy world manifesting is what motivates me.

What also motivates me is knowing that people may play it and discover that fantasy world.

I want to make an adventure for my characters, I guess? The characters are pretty important to keep me motivated to actually make a game for them.

My biggest motivation right now, is that there's this weird thing where you have to eat this food stuff... and the food stuff needs to be bought with this money stuff... and then there's this thing about not being out there when it's like 12 below zero and snowing, and you're sleeping under a park bench, so then you need this shelter stuff... and, well... I really need all of that stuff, or else I'll just be a homeless, deflated, dead squid.

Or else I'll be out there on the streets holding a cardboard sign saying "Please feed the squids."

I'm one of those self-motivated types. My love for the characters and the depth of the story I create usually drives me forward, and that's ultimately the reason I'll ever go back to finish a game after taking a break. I like what some others have said here; if you don't enjoy playing your own game from the very start, then you're probably making the wrong kind of game. You're not gonna convince an audience to love the game if you don't, so why bother continuing with something when your heart isn't in it?

For me, I know I've got a great game in the making, and I want to see it unfold--and the only way that'll happen is if I finish it. And of course, knowing there are people out there who are looking forward to it as well is a major confidence boost.

A combination of a two key things: depression and hunger.

Depression because whenever I do creative work (writing, making music, making the game) I get pretty depressed if I don't finish it. So if I go too long without doing something towards it, I start to feel pretty bad about it! It's a somewhat productive problem.

And then the hunger. I starve for a game that tells a story has characters exactly the way I want. The only way I'll ever get exactly what I want is to do it myself (good life lesson there for everyone.)

Congratulations for the members, whom had their games in complete section & also for those whom will finish their games soon!
It should be "who" in both of these instances. "Whom" is not used when it is the subject of the sentence.

My father's failing health.  Game development gives me a powerful outlet to let me work on something to distract from the hours of Chemo therapy just sitting there waiting for him to be finished since I cannot go into the room with him to keep him company.  This way I always have something to do in order to keep my mind off of the less casual of thoughts.

I'm very bad about keeping motivated, I have probably a dozen or more incomplete projects that usually never got off the ground. Mostly because I didn't have my resources finalized. I am capable of making my own custom graphics for a game, and often end up doing that because I am never satisfied with the general ones I end up finding, but it definitely not my favorite part. I'm not an artist really, and while I can make decent looking sprite graphics I can't manage to keep the momentum going to finish a full tileset. I love the game making process, creating maps and events and encounters is wonderful and fun for me, but the behind the scenes before you start your game resource creation is the most tedious part for me.

I'm going for the career focused aspect. Whereas I'm currently doing RPG Maker things just as a hobby, once finished, they add somewhat respectable points to one's portfolio.

Other than that, I'm actually extremely bad at being motivated to do / finish things. I end up burning myself out on a single project very, very quickly, and I'll have a half-year hiatus before doing another creative spurt. To alleviate that, I was planning on starting a second, parallel project with completely different gameplay.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
