What race do you want playable in a role-playing board game?

hi there,

I wanted to start a small poll

It´s not just for fun - i want to use your answers to make my game better.

The Question is:
What race, next to humans, do you want / have playable in a role-playing board game?

It´s cause i´m creating a board Game in the kind of Lego Heroica. Therefor i don´t want to create simple figures, which always look the same. I want each player to be able to create his own character, out of one of 7 racess are the first and basic race.
Now i´m searching for 6 more. Each User can give me his 2 voices for a race/folk he decides. You surely can give your voice a new race to, and it will be added to the list.
But only the 6 best/most voted ones will be part of the later game.

You can chose every race, except orcs, dragons, demons or other "bad" or other "stereotype bad" race - cause they will have the function of the enemies.

004 - Minotaurs
004 - Dryad
003 - Worgen (Werewolf like)
003 - Gnomes

002 - Dhampire (human + vampire children)

Elves and Dwarves are standard fantasy fare. As such, they're the first two races I'd include after Human, unless I were trying to avoid standard fantasy, in which case races probably wouldn't matter as I'd be focusing more on specific classes.

I vote for Elementals because they're so overlooked, yet so great to play.

Oh, and Bird Folk. I friggin' love Harpies.

But I also like Tengus...  or are we limited to Greek/European Myth races and not allowed to have Japanese Myth races.

dark dwarves I guess... or maybe minotaurs? most of them that I've seen in games look mostly the same so maybe it's good if you can produce several minotaurs that look differently...

Can't really blame anyone for similar-looking minotaurs. Minotaurs are Minotaurs, their physical and mental appearances are set in stone. Anything different is just NOT a minotaur...and people will find it weird because it's NOT what they know it as. It's been story-told as what it is for hundreds of years. Like Jesus.

Tengus are added

updated the vote status. Dragonians are part of the lizard folks.

There will be a Character Editor, where you can select bodyparts for head/Chest/Legs + some Equipment.

Later in Game, when you collected some EXP and Gulds, you can buy new Equipment and Design Stuff to create your character like you want.

So there will be a wide range of modification space to build your dream chara. Even for minotaurs

Tengu and Wargen, because Tengu are rarely found outside of enemy list for jrpgs and I always enjoy role-playing as a wolf shape-shifter for some reason...

Okay, as someone who is in the process of making a new ruleset for my own tabletop style RPGs as well as new lore for it's universe I have a lot I can say about this subject...

But I won't... your allowing 7 races which is actually pretty fine so long as you can differentiate properly. Most people run into a problem here so I normally recommend sticking to 4 races as that tends to be where people can normally differentiate each race noticeably without getting into small unimportant differences.

I need to stay on subject.... I lose myself sometimes.
