What to do when a underaged girl keeps msging?

Maybe not my proudest post, and maybe a bit misplaced but I don't know where else I could ask...

So, what to do if an underaged girl keeps msging you with inappropriate msgs?...

Just let it be, or do something about it? I have tried to explain to her but she keeps msging me.

Any thoughts?

I'd say just block her. Ignoring her posts are one thing but if she won't stop then you have to stop her yourself by blocking all forms of contact. Her being underage makes it a lot more uncomfortable to receive those types of message, but really it's what I'd do if anyone was giving me inappropriate messages.

Problem is that I felt a bit sorry for her at first since she said she had no one else to talk to, so kind and stupid as I am I msgd her back even though it felt akward to text with an underage. Then she started typing all the inappropriate messages.

The chances are great that it isn't really an underage girl but a spammer trying to trick you into pay-sites, so never answer.


(and that might be the reason where they got your number from: either a random number generator or from one of the data collection services that sells the data you gave to an internet site without privacy restrictions.

Can you search the person out by phone number and try to contact their parents? Assuming it really is an underage and real person. What Andar suggested sounds very likely though...

If that is not possible, try not to pay attention or reply to the messages anymore or blatantly tell her you are not even the slightest interested.. If they go on sending them for long while, you can even contact police for harassment, since that's what it is, if they disregard your wish to be left alone.

I would've wanted to block a person harassing me once, too, but my phone did not have option to ban calls from certain numbers. Some have it though and it should be somewhere in security settings and requires PIN and PUK (if you have those there) codes before you can activate that. I don't think it is service provider dependent.

That was a joke.

Block her ASAP and don't reply in an inappropriate manner.

You don't want trouble.

Not to mention that many.... "underage-girls-that-act-imappropriate" are a very common social engineering trick as @Andar mentioned.

Get rid of that idiot. He is a man probably anyway.

There are charging scams per sms, there are blackmail idiots, you can go to your telephone company and ask to block this number from accessing you. Better yet, there is probably an app that does that for you. Just some ideas.

Seems like my phone doesn't have a inbuilt block for sms, and numbers (I'm using a Nexus 4). I'll see if there might be some app on the marketplace perhaps?

Oh yeah, then definitely see what you can do to block her. Also, I would advise keeping any and all messages in case you need to prove that you've done nothing inappropriate. Maybe even send one last message saying that it's inappropriate and you are blocking her.

Don't send messages to the scamming numbers or you play right into what scammers want you to do. Basically they win at the moment you do that.

I'm not positive this will work, but a search turned up this page. I am not phone savvy so perhaps you can make sense of it. It looks like it will block her calling you at least, but maybe not her text messages. I still highly recommend calling your phone provider. They'll know all the ins and outs.

Edit: Before people keep speculating what this "girl" is doing just remember that it doesn't matter if this person is an old man, a scammer, a cop, or an actual young girl. The solution is still block the number.

If you cannot block, your provider always can (technically, it might be that some providers don't offer that due to cost (or only offer it for payment, but in that case you can go request the police to set up a number catcher and move against the harassment)

I found an app on the store that blocks both calls and sms and it seems to work fine for now. 

I really hope It's not a scam then, does that mean that I will have to pay for every sms I send or what (In case its a scammer), and how can they reach my money without access to my account? I have it so I pay a set amount of money to my phone company only, so they can't take any money off my phone. (And even then the phone usually alarms if you are about to send an sms that costs money).

Anyway I hope this is settled now, and thank you all for the answers.

And yeah, I aplogized for the DP, I can't do anything about my interet's actions
