Hello,

Does anyone have any creative ideas on what a player can do with fish? I made a little fun timing mini-game and they catch all this fish, but all I have for what to do with it is the basics: trade, sell, eat. Is there anything I could do to spice this up a bit?

You could try pairing them together (like genealogy!) to get offspring. It might be fun for the player to figure out which fish to pair to get the kind of offspring they want. Some could give special buffs to the player, or increase stats. Others could become weapons or accessories. Or the really rare ones could be worth a lot of gold. You could build a fish bestiary of some sort around it, and even include a set of side-quests when certain offspring are in your possession.

You could include them in crafting such as alchemy, where the specific fish is used for specific potions.

You could create a secret character that the player can only talk to if they feed fish to cats around different cities -- in other words, become a side-quest. And this one is especially fun if you do something like give each city/cat a different fish preference. Some might like one type of fish and others like another.

Make vicious-looking necklaces with the bones.  Raises EVA (fish are slippery)

X number of Y type fish (big, strong ones) harvest Z number of scales to make a shield which protects against water/ice attacks.

though it's kinda silly, it'd be funny if you could lash the fish to a piece of driftwood and mush it like a sliegh, steadily losing fist as they escape your makeshift craft. It could be sued to make certain exploration bits faster if you have enough fish. Though unless it's a comedy game or one trying to emulate some of the ridiculous(ly fun) sceinerios in older RPGs.

So long (so long), and thanks for all the fish! ~

Dark Cloud 2 had this cool feature where you could place fish you caught in a fish tank, where you could feed them to make them grow, encourage them to breed, etc., and also enter them in "fish contests" where they were judged on things like size and rarity.  I think certain breeds of fish would interact with each other in special ways, too.  It was kind of neat.

As another totally different idea, you could use the fish (or something made from them) as spell reagants which are required to cast some small category of unique spells.

Your third idea is awesome, i love it!!!

This is hilarious and if I can find a way to implement it, I will, haha!!

Yes, I'm interested in this fish tank idea.. not for judging for size and rarity but rather I have written for my game a "small business" side-quest type feature that the player can use to get money on the side.. I have it currently written with "mine wars". that is, the player runs a mine but NPCs affiliated with competing businesses hire mercenaries to attack it etc... thanks

Thanks for getting that Fergie song stuck in my head.

You could trade the fish to a Mermaid or magic cat or something who grants wishes for fishes.

Thanks, awesome MTG reference lol.

"wishes for fishes" is hilarious.

What about something where the player feeds the fish and they start getting much larger, is there anything there?

What if sometimes fishes had items. Or, offered you something for throwing them back? They wont always give something worthwhile though

Freeze it and make it into a blunt force weapon with cold damage. The more you use it, it starts to melt and become less effective. Then, you recharge by freezing it again.

Our latest feature is an interview with... me?!

People4_2 (Capelet off and on) added!

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
