I noticed little talk about Visual Novels on the forums.
If you don't know what a VN is, THIS might give you a few titles you've might of heard of.
They are technically not 'games' but that doesn't mean there is no gameplay. Anyways, there are a ton of Anime/Manga lovers on this site as well as a few VNs made with RPG maker. I'm also certain they're are some Ren'py fans here to.
I tend to prefer a good action VN with bits of Slice-of-life elements, good examples could be Rewrite and Dengeki Stryker. But I'll take a 'feel good' VN like Little Busters and Clannad. I also like VNs that take completely different takes on certain genre like how Steins;Gate adds actual physics to time traveling to make it seem more possible. I tried out Phoenix Wright, but I suck at the court cases without a guide.
Currently, I just finished the default route in Steins;Gate. I have yet to see the anime, but I've seen so many anime before reading the VN that I just want to know what it feels like to read the VN first.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
