Hello, everyone.

This is my first topic, so I hope I've put it in the right spot. Also, I couldn't find a similar topic, so I made a new one. Please inform me if I do anything wrong!

Okay, I have just began working on a game, and I'm having a hard time thinking of a list of different weapons & armour to use in it.

The characters in the game and what they equip are...

(Set out: [Name - Main Hand - Off Hand - Head - Body - Accessory])

Erik - Sword - Shield - Helmet - Heavy Armour - Gauntlet

Lyrissa - Staff - Rod - Hood - Robe - Ring

Rayner - Bow - Arrow - Cap - Light Armour - Bracer

Callum - Dagger - Dagger - ^? - Cloak - Boot

*Cole - Holy Blade - Holy Blade - Holy Helmet - Holy Armour - Holy Light

^Can't remember what Callum's head thing was...

*Cole might be removed at a later stage

So there's just some information. I really need a good list, please. Maybe also some skills and magics as well.

Thanks in advance!

John (aka. LightningFlare)

(PS - How do I put in spoiler boxes? This is my second ever post!)

Are you talking about making up weapons?

Or actually downloading some pre-made ones?

The one's in the game database should serve you okay,

and you can even make your own in that same database with their own stats, effects, and icon.

Well, I'm not too sure actually.

As it is my first game ever, I was planning on using the ones in the database... But I didn't like the way that they are all the same design.

In hindsight, no one's really going to see them anyway, so it doesn't matter really.

Or actually downloading some pre-made ones?
Where would I be finding these pre-made weapon/armour sets?

You may want to clarify a bit. Are you asking us in a story perspective, like would the listed items match the specific character's personality/fighting style, or statswise (in which case, just make the stat bonuses increase incrementally as newer items come up. By how much is another discussion entirely.)? Or are we simply talking about the graphic icons here, in which case it's your call.

Your setup at the moment's very vanilla. It's not bad or anything, but I really don't think it needs too much thought.

In a way, I'm not rally sure what I'm asking either.

To look at it in a slightly different way, what weapons do you use in your games? For example, do you base your selections on other games, like Wooden Sword, then bronze, then iron, steel, etc, or do you make up your own set?

Also, is there anywhere where people put up weapon lists, like what they choose?

Each project I try to come up with new and interesting names that fit the theme of my game. I may wind up copying over some of my statistics because, hey, if they worked before they can work again, but I also try to create new weapons as well.

Callum seems like a theif/rogue character. Would he were cowls?

Spoilers are made by putting text between the following: [@spoiler][@/spoiler] (without the @'s)

Are you looking for names? My weapon names depend on my project theme.

Something very "Japanese" in design (something like Final Fantasy or Breath of Fire), I use more "poetic" names. (Ogreslayer, Blood Rose, Assassin's Edge).

Something more "Western" in design (something like Dungeons and Dragons or Elder Scrolls), I use more "descriptive" names. (Fiery Iron Longsword, Short Bow of Hunting, Short Knife of Shadows).

Honestly, go through some game's gameFAQs and look up game's weapon/armor list. I'd avoid using "iconic" or "unique" names (Master Sword, Buster Sword, Lionheart, etc) but it can help with fillers. :]

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
