What's the best horizontal visual novel screen size?

Sorry for the simple question. I'm new to Rpg Maker.

What is the best horizontal screen size/resolution for a visual novel designed to be played on a smart phone(held horizontally of course.) ?

I could not find any visual novel background samples in the DLC folder that came with MV.

I assumed the "battlebacks" would be a good reference point for a good horizontal size, but I wanted to ask here first.

If anyone knows of any good dowloadable, horizontal MV visual novel backgrounds that'd also be a big help.

Also, would I need a plug in to change the size of the screen? If so could somebody point me in the direction of where said plug could be found.

You have three different questions here, and all three go in different forums.


"How big should the screen be" is a general discussion that has nothing to do with MV.


Requests for resources should go into Resource Requests, after you know what size you need (and if you're just after some that can be downloaded, make sure the person sharing them has permission to share them and that the artist has allowed them to be used by others).


And plugin requests go to Plugin Requests, though resizing the screen should just be a one-line command added to your main.js file so I wouldn't jump right in and grab a plugin as it would likely do a heap of other things that you may not need.

There are many devices with different resolutions, so there is no best that fits all. I am using 1280x720, that's 16:9 and should look fine on most mobiles.
