I had this idea I've been toying with on and off last year a game idea I had. I've been using RPGMaker for quite a bit now, and I think I'd like to release a tech demo for my game idea. What exactly is the best place for this? I've looked through the forums and I'm on the fence between Games In Development or Game Ideas and Prototypes.

I would think Games idea and prototypes.... unless this will become a game... but my guess is as good as yours.

I am planning to turn it into a game proper, which is why its a bit difficult for me to pinpoint where I should post it.

You can always ask moderators to move your thread to "Games in Development" as soon as you have progressed ;)

Right, I'm just a bit worried is all. It feels like I don't have enough content for the tech demo to be in Games in Development, but at the same time has too much stuff to simply be an Idea and Prototypes thing.

Tech Demos (designed to show off features, systems, or even elements of the game's presentation) are more suited for Game Ideas and Prototypes, whereas Game Demos (where the player can get most of the full experience, including the story, but they can't play through all the content yet) are more suited for Games in Development.

In either case, we won't burst your bubble if you post it on either of those boards, so long as you comply with the requirements in that board's rules thread.

Closing this topic since you now have an answer from a moderator.

Just beat the last of us 2 last night and starting jedi: fallen order right now, both use unreal engine & when I say i knew 80% of jedi's buttons right away because they were the same buttons as TLOU2 its ridiculous, even the same narrow hallway crawl and barely-made-it jump they do. Unreal Engine is just big budget RPG Maker the way they make games nearly identical at its core lol.
Can someone recommend some fun story-heavy RPGs to me? Coming up with good gameplay is a nightmare! I was thinking of making some gameplay platforming-based, but that doesn't work well in RPG form*. I also was thinking of removing battles, but that would be too much like OneShot. I don't even know how to make good puzzles!
one bad plugin combo later and one of my followers is moonwalking off the screen on his own... I didn't even more yet on the new map lol.
time for a new avatar :)
