what's the defense and attack ratio

how much attack do you need to have to do damage vs defense

here's a math problem for you my actor has 10 attack power the enemy defense 60 so how much attack power do I need to break the defense

literally I'm looking for the bare minimum

That depends on your game - it is NOT fixed.


Check the skill tab - there are all skills, and each skill has its own damage formula, including the attack skill.


You can change that formula any way you want - and that formula decides how much damage is done - if you remove the target defense from the formula, any attack will do damage for example.

maybe i'm completely stupid and totally missing the point... but doesn't it 100% depend on what formula your damaging attacks are using?

there is no "you need this much attack to break defense"... how much - if at all - defense plays into the skill's damage completely depends on what you want.

let's break it down... for the most simple of attacks. the default attack skill:

a.atk*4 - b.def*2

the user's attack value (a.atk) is multiplied by four. in your case, it would do 4*10=40 damage. but then the target's defense times two (b.def*2) is subtracted... in your case 2*60=120

your attack would do 40-120 damage... meaning it would be negative, hence doing 0 damage.

but now you could do something like a.atk*15 - b.def*2 and suddenly those 10 attack do 30 damage against 60 defense.

so you see... it's completely up to you and what formula you use.
