So I was talking to a friend of mine last night and we got into this really long debate over what is the best final boss in any video game. So that got me thinking what are your favorite final bosses in video games, why do you like it so much, what does it represent etc.

Mine would have to be Grima from Fire Emblem: Awakening.

What makes this boss so interesting is not the fact that Grima is the main antagonist of Fire emblem 1 and 3, but the fact that, due to some crazy time travel Grima is you from the future. During the final boss fight you're given a choice to let Chrom deal the final blow, returning Grima to slumber or Let Robin (The avatar) sacrifice him/herself to Kill Grima for good. By defeating Grima you're changing fate and erasing the horrible future that fate had in store. Mix all that with the epic music that plays throughout the mission and you get my favorite boss fight.

But obviously everyone has there own opinions and i'm interested to see what you guys think is the best final boss in a video game.

Giygas for me. I mean, I'm total Earthbound nut to begin with. But this end boss was something special, something different. It creeped me out. The music in the Pokey section was amazing random heavy metal (I never complain about that) but the music in the Giygas section was complete "what on Earth?!"

I think it's the Shadowlord in Nier. The music made the encounter feel epic. I also really liked the whole concept behind the battle.

Hard to pick just one for me.

I really enjoyed fighting Manus from Dark Souls DLC, though the final boss for the original campaign was quite crap in my opinion.

Athetos from Axiom Verge also comes to mind as a pretty intense and fun boss.

I'd also throw in Typhon and Hades from Titan Quest and its expansion respectively.

I love the "final boss" of Fallout, called The Master.

It it something so disturbing to see, a grotesque mix of organic material and computer with an insane "mind".

The cool thing of this final fight is that you can also use your character's Intelligence to beat it.

I love Splatoon's final boss. It's pretty challenging, yet it's not frustrating. It forces you to do a bunch of epic stunts that you feel like you thought up yourself, unlike some games with petty 'time action hits' like God of War.

Then there's Elder Princess Shroob from Mario and Luigi 2. It's really dark and gritty... almost to the point of not fitting in a Mario game.

Seriously, her minions lines up in spaceships without question to be attacked by her to act as suicide bombers to attack you. Whoever at ERSB decided to give this game an E rating must of just had a serious hangover.

Hard to pick just one.

But i'll say Nyx in Persona 3. The music and the boss' voice.

"Yes, the Arcana is the means by wich all is revealed..."  :p

Mine's from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Well, this one if you don't count the Hyper Sonic stage that comes after it if you unlocked all the Emeralds.

Imperfect Cell Lavos from Chrono Trigger (all the damn rounds\transformations, especially the 2nd here):

Say what you want, he's awesome, powerful and requires a lot of strategy and preparation to be beaten. Definitely one of my favourite videogame final bosses.

Although there were a lot of final bosses in MGS3, I'm confident that my favorite would be The Boss. I'm not even attempting to make pun here, seriously.

She may not be the hardest boss I've ever beaten but fighting her in a close field, still wondering why I need to fight her while Snake Eater plays in the background was one hell of an experience. Even after the battle, when the game revealed to you her true mission made it 10 times better.

I have a situation wih Shadowrun: Dragonfall.

IF the final boss had been Vauclair/Firewing, instead of Audran, I'd be praising them, but no. It was a big fight against Audran, it was somewhat exciting, but it just dissapointed me at the end. However, if it had been dialogue final boss Vauclair, it would have been a thousand times more satisfiying.
SR:DF is still a great game, tho.

Apart from that, DS both the DLC and the original game have very satisfying enemies and Bloodborne's bosses are just breathtaking.

I didn't fight anyone. I sided with Vauclair and got a really unexpected ending.

Kefka from Final Fantasy VI. Mainly for the music (Dancing Mad), but also because of how the fight, with its multi-tiered climbing structure, ultimately represents the party's uphill struggle for survival and reunion after Kefka destroys the world halfway through the game. It's also a long battle (but not too long), with 4 separate forms the party must fight through, which really puts your party to the test. It's the perfect capstone, in terms of both story and gameplay, to arguably the greatest RPG ever made.

Gwyn from Dark Souls is also amazing. Again, mainly for the music.

Mother Brain, from Super Metroid. If her creepy, brain-in-a-jar form weren't bad enough, she morphs into a cyborg dinosaur brain monster thing.

@C.W music is defiantly one of the most important parts In making a boss fight satisfying. That's why I hate it when games use the same boss theme for every boss it makes them feel less unique.

Another thing Dark Souls excels at. Almost every boss in the game has a unique battle theme. And the fact that boss music comprises 90% of Dark Souls's soundtrack makes the music all the more impactful.

Also Dark Souls series don't tend to follow typical logic of difficulty. Which makes exploring all more satisfying.

I say One Winged Angel and that's because of the music that plays in the background.

My favorite video game final boss is nonetheless... DIO!

Dio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure and Dio from the World Heroes series (not that anyone knows this long lost series but Dio is a reference to JoJo's Dio...wryyy) because DIO is the most badbutt super villain eva~  ZA WARUDO!

Tough call, I'm terrible at having to pick favorites at things for the most part since I have so many favorites.

I'll go with Final fantasy X for this one

The fight before the actual final boss (which isn't much of a final boss fight since you can't lose) is with Tidus Father and there is much emotion going on in the fight as saving the world means killing his father. Also the song "Otherworld" really gets your blood pumping in the fight and cleverly sums up tidus and jechts journey's throughout the game.

As for the actual Final boss fight Yu Yevon; it possesses all your Aeons (summons) that you have collected, and fought to earn and have been by your side from the beginning and you have to slay them one by one in what is an emotional battle for the player and for the character Yuna the summoner who has bonded with them.

I have many more favorites but this one stood out a lot maybe because It was my first rpg but I think its a quality one none the less.

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such?
