Hi everyone,

today I realized that even though as a kid I always thought that snipers are the coolest thing ever I actually like shotguns far more... I guess I outgrew the concept of the stealthy sniper, nowadays I'll just take the tankiest, most brutal and suicidal class that is out there.

Anyway, it made me think about weapons in games in general. To be honest even though I primarily play RPGs, I just really like shotguns to be honest. Be it Fallout or a turn based game, that cone of fire and the massive amount of damage just always feels so rewarding. Also, played some Ghost Recon today, the assault rifle almost made me quit. Then I picked up a shotgun and just happily switched to ''I can run and hopefully aim faster than you''. Was much more fun. Also, carrying a giant shield that you can charge with like a rhino while immune to damage? Sign me up, people flying everywhere. Really amusing.

So yeah, for me it's shotguns. When there are no shotguns it's usually the ''up in your face explosion'' close quarters magic. I don't know, there is just something so rewarding about being close to the enemy.

What's your favorite weapon type? Be it magic, melee weaponry, bows, keyblades, handcannons. Anything goes. :)

Of course it's Crossbow. I like the design of crossbow especially because they are easy to use than the normal Bow and usually the characters who use crossbow is a badass because you need to actually calculate the range of the crossbow and how to use it to make sure the arrow hit the target..

So that's the reason why I choose crossbow other than any weapons :p

The longbow. I may be a little biased as I've been practicing archery for years, but I find that using physics to shoot people in the face at long range is pretty awesome :p

Spears. I mean, seriously. They're great weapons in close quarters, because they allow to keep distance and they're reliable and versatile.

If you're ever in a zombocaplyse, get a spear.

If it's a ranged weapon (depends in game). I'd rather have a sniper rifle and make camp with a fair amount of mines around.

In GTA online, I'm a total jerk and I adore rigging sticky bombs on cars and helicopters to lure in unsuspecting players and once they're airborne... BAM

In semi-close-quarters, yeah - In close quarters, not so much. Spears are long and therefore cumbersome weapons to fight with

in tight and/or cramped spaces I.E any space that doesn't allow you to extend the spear and still have a couple of meters

left before you touch an obstacle.

On the battlefield, the efficiency of spears is pretty much built on team-play, where you either stand shoulder to shoulder

with other people armed with spears, or where you have a person with a shorter weapon who can dart about and protect your flanks

as you're engaging the enemy in front of you.

In a zombie apocolypse, I'm pretty sure you'd be looking for resources in-doors, where the spear would be practically useless

more often than not,

and unless a friend is keeping you safe between the thrusts, chances are you'd get overrun very quickly once faced with multiple

opponents, since the spear is not optimal for adapting to attacks from different directions in quick succession.

Just saying. In a zombie apocalypse you'd be better of with something like a machete, a half-spear, a one-handed scythe,

or a bat with a blade attached to the end, since these can be wielded with more ease and speed, and in all environments.

@OP :

Favorite close-range weapon -

Swords and knives (western or Japanese)

Favorite long-range weapon -

Suppressed semi's, like the H&K MP5.

Before, a normal bow is my favorite weapon when I was a child and that's my first weapon I used in my 1st RPG played (actually an MMO). And then afterwards until few years ago, it was a shield (as a weapon, LOL). Now I found to like a bow with some blades on the sides to make it usable in both melee and ranged combat.

Usually I prefer the rapid-fire weaponry the most. I like to feel like a crowd-controller, mowing down multiple targets at once. So for most modern and sci-fi games I tend to pick assault rifles, submachineguns, gattling guns, etc.

I do enjoy explosives too, though this usually depends on the game. If the game takes place in close-quarters and tight corridors a lot, then I am unlikely to use explosives. But if I just want some wild fun, like when I used to play Team Fortress 2, my most chosen classes were Soldier and Demoman.

With melee weapons, sign me up for dual wielding swords. Or a big round shield with which I can charge head on into battle.

Personally any game with a katana as weapon choice is my type of game. I could go with shield as a weapon though #Cap A All Day! I don't really like ranged weapons. If your farther than I can throw I am doing something wrong

I've always liked wires, chains, bolas, and whips. They manipulate various forces to constrict movement, giving flexibility between lethal and non-lethal approaches.

I always wanna say something silly, like a magic doll or puppet, or an instrument...

But then I think of other stuff that could be a "weapon". A Power Suit, like with Samus Aran or Iron Man. Although given my personality, I'd probably go with a suit like Rescue has, that is, focusing on defense and protecting people.

Or a magical summoned creature. I'd feel too guilty with an animal sidekick because I wouldn't want to put someone else in danger in my place. But a summoned magical entity...would be made of magic so they wouldn't really get hurt or suffer, just be "unsummoned" or something. Then I could summon them again later.

Enchanted lightsaber. Or, telepathically controlled velociraptor.
Old Lace is a telepathically controlled velociraptor (or deinonychus). But if she feels pain, you do too.

My weapon of choice used to be the lightsaber. As I got older, I realized that a lightsaber is nothing like a real sword - There is no weight from the blade, so unwanted consequences may happen.

That being said, my current favorite weapon would be either the crossbow.

OR a magical katana. Glorious Archfiend nippon steel.

^I really love that sniper crossbow from Half Life 2. It's so satisfying to use.

MACHETES!! whats better than watching your enemies limbs flying through the air? however in most games they can be pretty useless so i always have a shotgun at hand.

add a c4 for that extra touch of pyromania

Other
Some kind of Rapier or Katana kinda thing.

Something One-Handed, and light, no need for a shield or a second weapon :)

Machine guns.

The exhilaration you get when you fire multiple rounds of bullets at a time isn't matched by anything in my life.
