Hello there.

Well, There's been some time since a Suikoden game, and I really like these games.

It's been so much time since I played one and I wanted to know if anyone knows these games?

So, which one do you like the most?

I especially like Tierkreis, 3 and Tactics

but my favourite of them is the second one :D

I guess my favorite is the first one. I've played the first two in reverse order.

Played tierkreis many years later and it didn't really feel like a suikoden game, but it was ok. Same thing for suikoden 3.

Never played any other than those 4.

Oh, wow! Suikoden is one of my all time favorites! ^^

Suikoden 2 is my favorite of the entire series, followed by Suikoden 5. ^^

Suikoden 1,4, Tactics and Tierkreis were all enjoyable as well. ^^

5 has the best gameplay, 3 has the best story, 2 is probably the best total package.
Kinda felt like the big reveal in 3 wouldn't have kicked as hard if I hadn't played 1 and 2, but I'd have to agree that 3 had a well-presented story with its Trinity Sight System. Personally though, I'd put 2 over 3 only because I feel 2 just ages better for me as a game than 3 did. I'd vote 5 for third then the first after that.

Suikoden 4 does not exist.

As for the spinoffs, horrible VAs aside, I think Tierkreis was a solid NDS game on its own if you try really hard not to think it's disconnected from the primary Suikoden universe. I have fan translations of Suikogaiden that I haven't gotten around to playing just yet but wikis online sort of covered the story for me already. Lost my copy of Tactics. :(

I'm sure a lot of people like to pretend that Suikoden 4 does not exist.

The problem about Suikoden 4 is, if you don't have the endgame save file, you can't recruit the two characters from Suikoden 4 in Tactics (depends on how you played Suikoden 4).

It is much like, if you don't have the original Suikoden save file, you won't be able to recruit Suikoden's hero and Gremio in Suikoden 2 (depends on how you played in the original Suikoden).

Also, I found the naval battles in Suikoden 4 quite interesting.

Simple and short answer for me is 2, even until now I still like to play the Greenhill's theme(the first theme, the one you got there for very first time) with my accoustic guitar, while it's really simple but you will feel a mystical atmosphere from that bgm.

I actually like 4. The only real issue was the amount of time it took to travel by sea, and the 4 characters instead of 6 in party. Other than that, I felt it was a pretty solid entry. Not as good as 2, 3, and 5 to me, but pretty solid.

Also, the ship battles were pretty cool.

I believe Suikoden 4 tried to bridge some of the disparity between 2's mechanics and 3's transition in 3D which was nice, but they didn't completely nail it til 5. The naval battles were fun but yes sailing was just awful.

The story was... okay. Perhaps it set itself too far apart from 1-3 + 5's timelines when I was hoping to find out a little more about where and what previous stars of destiny were up to. I felt Snow was intended to be a character to sympathize for, but found no redeeming qualities to root for. It sucks considering how compelling I feel his story could've been. It's an interesting contrast to Riou and Jowy's best friends dynamic. The big villains fell a little flat for me as well. A lot of ideas in here felt like it was taking a few tips from Suikoden 2 (best friend angle, implied in-fighting among the enemy brass), but most of it felt underdeveloped.

I liked Suikoden 4 a great deal, though I did like Suikoden 5 a bit better.

My opinion :

Suikoden 2 = Balanced gameplay, above average story.

Suikoden 4 = Too short, 4 party members (only 4?), but great graphics.

Suikoden 5 = Best storyline, best character design, but slow gameplay.

Never played 1 & 3  :)

I HATE that series! Never have I EVER seen so many non chars in a game, so many undetailed worthless massive bunch of worthless $%&& Except in 3, then they threw that out the window for some reason.

Though I do love the story of the cursed rune!

1/2 are the best Suikoden games IMO, followed by 5.

The rest of the series I didn't really like all that much due to either broken game-play, or the style of the game deviating too much from 1 and 2.

Suikoden also probably has the largest cast of actual characters as well, in any game ever - alas, when you have 108 of them, many of them are going to be "non-characters", but then again, most people you meet in real life are also going to be "non-characters" (like most of the cashiers you come across in your life, or that one kid in your junior high school class that you can't remember the name of etc). so I don't really see that as a complaint.

The game tries to spin a world that is believable - some characters are going to be important, some are not.

3 is no exception at all though, so your opinion just doesn't seem to make much sense at all.

Did you even really play the games?

Chronos cross does come close to 108 characters too XD

Games with many characters are fun because they're so different(most of the time) and I only use the ones I like best(not really by stats,sometimes...) :D

3 has skills to learn that you choose, maybe you should play the game again? Do the cashiers at walmart want to save the world with you? No, ok.

I don't think I played the first game until after I played 2. I think I might have been spoiled by 2, though. Since 2 was just... wow. Watching the opening of that game alone makes me want to play it (ie: I get "Suikoscrewed"). I didn't mind 3's story, and it's skill system was pretty awesome, but, the combat engine and sheer amount of backtracking is really off-putting. I liked 4 for what it was. I didn't mind the sailing part as much as some. If I did have to make a complaint against it, it would be that the coloration between mapped and unmapped territory are way to similar for the game's own good at times. 5, though, was a return-to-form that was refreshing to see!

As an aside, how many characters did Chrono Cross have? Also, I seem to recall Radiata Stories boasting a cast of 144 playable characters.

Couple hours of work. Might use in my game as a secret find or something. Not sure. Fancy though no? :D
Holy stink, where have I been? Well, I started my temporary job this week. So less time to spend on game design... :(
Cartoonier cloud cover that better fits the art style, as well as (slightly) improved blending/fading... fading clouds when there are larger patterns is still somewhat abrupt for some reason.
Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
