That title screen looks a bit busy...

Everything else is looking stellar though!

I think he's removed the giant star from behind the New Game etc buttons to cut back on the business of the title screen. Doesn't look like he posted a version like that anywhere though.

Is there something in the character artwork itself that you find could be less busy?

Personally, I do often wonder if maybe the buttons should be smaller over all though. (But at the same time, the game's HUDS are mostly a lot bigger than what I would do, so I wasn't sure if that was part of the style. since the largeness of other HUD screens adds something to the style of the game to me; makes it seem more 'Saturday Morning Cartoon' charm)

Here is what the current title screen looks like thanks to the feedback.  I thought the giant star with a hue would look nice against all those colors, but it just was too busy like you said.   I saved the previous sized buttons just in case reducing them in size doesn't grant the desired effect.  I kept the animated star at a reduced size since it is essentially Jayce's weapon.

I agree, a video showing how it animates would help us know if it looks right.
I'm still getting use to video capture and learning, but I think this will do the trick.

https://youtu.be/OS_5a5-1psY

Let me know if it seems alright now with the buttons at 75% instead of 50%.  I can also reduce the number of stars, change direction, speed, rotation, etc.

I also need to learn how to embed video, as the embed code will not work on this site.  I can't seem to upload an mp4 even with members +.

EDIT: Thanks Scythuz!

Puzzles are continuing to get implemented, and I should have that video of court footage this weekend after my nephew's first communion.

Right so it just seems a bit overly busy right now, my advice would be to reduce the number of stars and make the patterns less random.  If it's possible to put the stars behind the characters/title that might also work as a less faffy solution.

Also regarding embedding a video on the forums: all you need to do is paste a regular youtube link and you don't even need to use the add link button or the media bbcode.  The same thing also applies to soundcloud embedding.

I changed the Z layer and made the particles go behind the characters and in front of the background, shrunk the size of the particles and randomized their colors to blend in a bit better.  Hopefully this makes it seem less busy.

Marie of Bovasso or MoB has finished my commission of Stacy:

Her blog is http://marieofbovasso.tumblr.com/ and her DeviantART is http://ofbovasso.deviantart.com/.  Please take a moment to check her out.  Jayce is hot on her trail, but requires a bit more work.  We'll see what she comes up with.

I apologise for the lack of updates, my computer of 6 years decided that upon restart it wouldn't boot and constantly increased in temperature until  the motherboard fried from the cooling system gradually heating up.  I was planning on replacing it so everything was already there for transfer to a new system.  But unfortuantely windows 8.1 doesn't take previously installed programs and that is where my week has gone.  Steam is the only thing that worked on transfer along with all the games and

software downloaded.

Right now the court scene is being refined and the scene flow is being worked on to make the experience more fluid.  I have to get back to making the placeholder images for the presentation system for Mundy's script.  I have the following which was the current state of the file before the failure when I fell asleep:

Makio showed me some awesome tricks in PS, so I can now hotkey re sizing.  I'll be saving a ton of time with editing files now.  I want the final portraits to look like this in relation to the screen restriction that Shaz's mouse script has for the default settings.

Should RPG maker update or my plans change I also have the higher res versions of the portraits to use, but this seems better to have them on the screen at once to make it feel more like a visual novel as intended.  I can have a clear window for text as well, this default one has scan lines to provide more backing for text.  Which would you prefer?

New character designs are on the way.  I've got one last program to reinstall, so that won't take long to be back on my feet.

I really need to get these bumpers done as well which break up the scenes and add more of a Saturday morning feel.  The animations won't take long, but the court scene has my focus.

Apologies, my old system was replaced and I have nearly all the templates and resources brought over.  I am back to capacity.

Scythuz did some custom work on the Sound Effects you can preview here:

They are hawks, though the desgin will vary based on Makio's judgement.  I have the defense attorney concept I will share just as soon as I can get approval from the artist it's enough to go on.  I also need to work on the criminal for the first case.

The IGMC is coming up and this will be put on one month hiatus once the announced date and rules are posted.  Thank you for your understanding.

A game with talking anthropomorphic animals, a wheelchair-bounded protagonist and his strong-willed sister can become only a good game. I keep an eye on that project for sure.

Thanks!  Hopefully things will work out for continuing work on the project.  Right now Mundy is working on redesigning the Evidence presentation window along with getting the mouse script to work in that window.

These are placeholder graphics at the moment, and the descriptions aren't aligned proper for the WIP.  I'll be adding some vector circuits to the background when I get a chance tonight along with working on the basis of the Galatica database.

I do not think the player will have access to the Galatica at the time of the demo for the first case,  to save on time.

July 7th is now the definite hiatus date to the 7th of August.

EDIT: Present Evidence Script is now working with the mouse and sounds.  Mundy's computer took a nose dive immediately afterwards, but he lost no data.

Update:  The Script is functioning and is being integrated.  Profiles are now active in the Court Record.

TOTALLY an adult.

Hey all, been busy with finishing up the last few concepts for the demo:

I've also finally gotten the confetti to work without hanging up for the moment:

It's just not a court room without it.

I've been involved in a lot of testing for NDA based projects, so I can't say yet what I've been doing elsewhere.  Though there is a lot of fun things coming your way. =)

Right now I've managed to utilize the particle script in such a way I can make natural lighting and a rainbow bridge.  That won't help in this project but I can easily take it elsewhere.

Currently working on the banners for each of the testimonies as well.

Currently in the IGMC, but I thought we needed an update due to how long it has been.

Thanks to Exhydra we all have a script that overwrites the text layer.

This makes Wheels and the Leg Girl unique among visual novels and games again, due to a design element never used before in RM or other adventure games.

Here is an example:

I'm currently planning one for Slag as well as Metalla.

Currently in motion:

Stacy is working on her cheer
and you can help!

I'm currently exploring rewards in regards to a reverse paetron/kickstarter where I would be rewarding you for marketing the game to potential players.

This would include announcing features on twitch/livestream, or showing screen shots on a blog with significant viewers attached.

What would be some good rewards for people?  Would you like Community rewards as well and not just for the marketing people?

How grass roots and word of mouth can one game spread?

This will give me a lot to think about while you decide over the course of the IGMC.  When August 8th comes along, you can expect another update.

Till then: Stacy and Jayce wish you the best summer possible.

If you haven't yet seen Jayce and Stacy are staring in a one shot game over at the other place.  Can't advert it here, but it's in my profile.

Ah~ That turned out super slick! Good luck on your IGMC game. Looking forward to hearing what you have in mind for Slag and Meta when I get back from vacation.

Oh I like that effect in the last image a lot. Can't wait to see that in-game.

Sorry for being quiet.  A personal issue with my family's health and a miscommunication between doctors kept me away and unable to maintain this thread for a bit.  I came back to see that MV will be coming out shortly.  I've already gotten a copy and will be taking the project over to MV due to the ease of controls and possibilities of lightening the work load since Mundy is VERY familiar with javascript and html.  Sadly with Ruby we'd both struggle at times and needed outside help more often than not.  This won't make things easier, but it will make them faster.

All resources are still valid.  Nothing is being redone from scratch.  No time is lost for development.

The native mouse system is something I've really needed due to Shaz's script requiring so much work and tweaking with Venka's and Nio's help.  This is a dream come true for this project and initially why I wanted to start it ahead of time to see if I could manage with ACE.  Now I can get this looking and functioning better and still retain the different look from most of the games you will be seeing with MV.

Anyone who contributed during the ACE development will still be credited for their work.  I have no reservations in giving people credit where credit is due. I hope this means we can see them again on the MV side of things.

As of two weeks ago all resources needed to complete the first court scene are done, and the puzzles are being constructed now.  A few adjustments will get them to the new resolution standards.  Everyone did everything in HQ big versions which will scale to any size.  What a life saver =3

I really wanted to say thank you to everyone who asked about the project when I was away.  It means a lot to me that people are looking forward to this and I am extremely proud of what I have written.  It's going to be a blast, and with the holidays coming up I'll be taking some time specifically to work on this with Mundy.

The thread has reached beyond my expectations for a project without a demo available yet, and I am overjoyed some of the mods have even taken interest and are following.  To see them on the follow list is very encouraging.

Are we allowed to post about non-RPG Maker games? And, if so, would any of you be interested in a short, proof of concept type non-euclidian puzzle game?
I should realize that error was produced by a outdated version of MZ so that's why it pop up like that
