Uhm. Hi, dear game makers and forum members out there!
I'm really, really bad at those introduction things and after scrolling through a lot - and I mean a lot - of postings other newbies made, I decided to just start with it and let my fingers do what they always do. Just write what my brain can't express into decent words and sentences while not trying to think too much about it. So, please have mercy with me if all this here ends up to be an absolute mess.
My name's Cattleya - actually Cattléya but the "Give yourself a username" thingy didn't want me to have my é -, but if you want, you can call me Catty or Cat or whatever you want to. I like stuff like video gaming of course and my absolute favourite series is Fire Emblem which I play since the age of eight and which really means the world to me. But I also love games like Fatal Frame - the only horror game I play btw. - Monster Hunter, Pokémon, The Legend of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts and a lot more. I'm more of a Nintendo fan but I also own a PlayStation 4 since some month and getting into those games now. The Final Fantasy series is something I kind of missed during my childhood and which I am now catching up to. I really fell in love with FFXV and FFXIV so far. Apart of that I also love to read and draw / paint and love to see and explore other people's art. It somehow fascinates me. I also love watching films and series - like Game of Thrones and How I Met Your Mother lately - and I am also interested in Anime and Manga too. Even though I like reading Manga a little more than watching Anime.
But to finally come to my story with RPG Maker and why I got signed up into this forum.
I'm actually more of a writer than a game maker. I started writing in primary school and 'til that I never gave up on it. I mostly wrote short stories since this helped me a lot with handling my own thoughts and emotions - but since 2014 I am working on a much greater project which made me fall in love with creating whole worlds and characters not just for a few pages but for years of writing and hours of reading. But since I wanted to focus on said project with my writing I searched for another medium to share my ideas with. And I someday got into hacking the old Fire Emblem GBA games - you don't have to be familiar with Fire Emblem, I'll keep that short. I really enjoyed it but had to see pretty fast that I am absolutely not good with codes. I had fun with the basic parts like changing texts and maps and character sprites. But when it came to making the game run when adding new chapters and all that ... it was just way too much for my brain. But even though I had my problems with that and was really exhausted after some time, I wanted to become better and good at it so much.
What you need to know now is that my best friend's a streamer. And to keep the story short, I wanted to do a Fire Emblem hack for him and his community as a gift - with them being the playable characters. And I already had the basics of the story and characters thought out when I realized that I didn't want to give all of them a personality for the sake of my story that will definitely not fit most oft them at all. I didn't want to create and give my all to it when maybe someone wasn't happy with how I formed the personality of their in game selfs. But I really did not want to give up on what I created so far. I thought about doing this Fire Emblem hack nevertheless but with fully original characters instead - but got demotivated by all those complicated codes again.
That's when I stumbled upon an artist showing some sprites of their characters with RPG Maker MV. I heared about RPG Maker before but didn't really think much about it. I didn't think it was that much of a professional programm. But I still googled it, informed myself on it's official page and suddenly ... I had it installed. With no clue why and what and how and ANYTHING. I'm really no spontaneous person, when you want to visit me I have to now that like four weeks before. But this. I don't actually know. It just started to fascinate me. And the idea I had before popped back up into my mind. And I finally had a solution for my problem - I didn't want the basics creation to die but I would absolutely not fit a written story. It was designed to be a game, an experience for a player, not a writer. And the thought that my creation could finally come true without nasty codes blocking my way ... it just felt so unique and beautiful and ... well. I don't know if any of you may understand that, haha.
All that happened not that long ago. Not even two full weeks. But I still got so far with my ideas. I'm currently buisy with scripting and planning out how I want the character sprites to look. I have all the designs for them in my head but I feel like I'm not good enough at drawing yet to really do them justice. I know, that's just nonsense. Practice and determination and all that ... but, well. Sometime's that's way more difficult than you think. Maybe I'll overcome that blockade one day - until then I keep scripting and thinking about how I want to make my worlds and continents and lands look like.
Why I signed up here ... I think for someday getting critique for my game from people who know what they're doing. Who created some games before and give me some advices for improving. And to be inspired by your games and your resources, maybe find in your games some I can fall in love with. Overall - just to have a place I feel home at with my future game.
Last but not least ... I apologize for every silly grammar mistake I may have made. It's almost 3 a.m. over here in Germany and my brain begs me to not use it anymore actually. Ohh, and excuse me for that huge wall of text I wrote ... I'm really, really grateful if you really read all of this.
I hope, you have a beautiful day or night, wherever you are and whenever you are reading this.

P.S.: Those Kaomojis are just adorable.
I WANNA USE ALL OF THEM.
