I've been thinking about making a website dedicated to updates on my game developments and releases. When do you think is a good time to make a website? Would you only do it when you have something substantial to show, like a demo or trailer? Or would you start trying to build an audience as early as possible?
I'm stuck with the idea that updates that don't show a lot of progress have the potential to just bore people so I wonder if things are best left until most of the game is done. Would love to hear your thoughts :kaoluv:

@Andreyla I didn't make one until my first game got recognition among Fes users (even then, I used Blogger). Having a Google+ community for it is great if all your games are/will be part of a single series.

The best time will be the time your version 1 will be ready and mostly bug free.
Okay, a few bugs can be forgiven, but a game full of bugs is nightmare fuel for gamers and the developer.
So make sure your game is rock steady and ready to play, play test the hell out of it, then, when you are sure everything works fine, WAIT! Test it again! Find the final bugs, fix them, then build the website, upload the game and you are ready.
Make sure you can update the site at least once a week with an announcement or something.
That's what I would do.

I think as soon as you decide to make your work public. The real question would be when to do this and my answer is: only when you are absolutely sure that the project will be completed. It is very common to get something out to get feedback and remain motivated, but sometimes the reverse happens. Something is only canceled after being shown publicly.

Do you Find Tilesetting or Looking for Tilesets/Plugins more fun? Personally I like making my tileset for my Game (Cretaceous Park TM) xD
How many parameters is 'too many'??
Yay, now back in action Happy Christmas time, coming back!

Back in action to develop the indie game that has been long overdue... Final Fallacy. A game that keeps on giving! The development never ends as the developer thinks to be the smart cookie by coming back and beginning by saying... "Oh bother, this indie game has been long overdue..." How could one resist such? No-one c
So I was playing with filters and this looked interesting...

Versus the normal look...

Kind of gives a very different feel. :LZSexcite:
